   Mark Emms reference This is a long overdue reference for Mark Emms and his practice as I rarely write references but Mark is an exception A little background. My dental hygiene was very poor in the 70/80s. & resulting in the loss of quite a few of my teeth, many fillings a bridge & partial denture early on which has always caused me embarrassment affecting my confidence in meeting new people. My experience of NHS Dentists was always horrendous & associated with pain and suffering & I always put off visiting the dentist for as long as possible. Since retirement however I’ve had the good fortune to consider private dentistry & be rid of this partial denture and be able to eat & smile with confidence. My journey started when I had a 2 badly decayed rear molars which needed to be extracted to avoid an abscess developing , but due to unusual anatomy required surgical extraction. I was reluctant to use the NHS due to a previous horrendously painful Apesectomy. So I decided after much deliberation to trust Mark Emms with the extractions who was highly recommended by my NHS dentist & independently by a friend. It was a difficult extraction due to the root socket being too small for the tooth to be removed easily, so required precision surgery to remove. I did never felt any pain whatsoever throughout, although I was extremely nervous & expecting pain from the outset. But Marks confidence, patience & relaxed demeanour talking to me throughout put me at ease . This gave me the total confidence to commit to initially a single implant to replace one of the 2 missing molars to enable me to chew again. The Implant procedure was far more complicated, precise & involved than I could’ve ever imagined but again felt completely at ease and confident in Mark throughout. I’ve never felt any pain whatsoever during the many visits over 6months & was very happy with the result and now feels like it’s my own tooth and I can finally chew at the rear now. Marks knowledge, confidence,expertise & meticulous attention to detail & his ability to immediately put you at ease meant that I had no hesitation in opting for a further two implants to replace my partial denture, & also replace a very old bridge over a 12month treatment plan. Now finally after nearly 18 months since my first visit everything is complete! I am absolutely thrilled with the results. I now understand why it takes so long as it is such an involved & meticulous process. which I could not have imagined at the outset. Throughout the many sessions in the. ‘ Dentists chair’ I never experienced any pain & Mark has restored my faith in dentistry & now have no need to associate pain with a visit to the dentist! So thank you, Mark for your time and effort and patience with me a very nervous patient! (no more) Please don’t retire any time soon Mark as I’m trying to persuade my wife the to see you & I may see you soon about a 4th implant! For any potential nervous patients like me contemplating a visit you are in safe hands with Mark with his informal demeanour, confidence & decades of knowledge & experience. Also thank you Abby for teaching me practical dental hygiene which would have been useful 40years ago & Max who was always by my side! Thankyou Mark!

   I had an appointment with Lukas this morning for a root canal treatment, in my head when he told me I wouldn’t feel it, I immediately thought yeah okay mate you’re going to be drilling into my mouth and I’m not going to feel any pain ? Sure. This man a magician!! I didn’t even feel the needle going in, nor did I feel anything other than the dribble leaking down my face which they really kept on top of with cleaning it up. I had a strange reaction to the anaesthetic, it made me itchy for a short while and then left me feeling like a was floating, which after a while I can’t say I mind, also not their fault as they asked me if I was allergic or have I ever have a reaction in which my answer was no. I thank everyone at the priors for making this such a gentle experience.

   Mr Mark Emms is my Dentist and has looked after me for over 35 years he is a very skilled and knowledgeable Dentist. The team of nurses and staff are very welcoming and caring and professional.

   I have been to the priors dentist and it is very good you get what you pay for and sometimes more. However my son is at this dentist and I have been paying monthly payments so he can go. But he hadn't been going, I think it may have something to do with the hygienists, he doesn't like the any pain. He couldn't keep to his appointments at other dentists, for other genuine reasons that's why I choose Priors through recommendation. I am going to stop Priors monthly payments. I would like a package, so if he doesn't go, I can go instead and not waste money so I could at least use it, but they say it's more money, so it has to come to an end. Update I rang prior dentist today I told them about the plan and I wanted to cancel Holly spoke over me when I was trying to explain and she put down the phone. Hope that doesn't happen to anyone else.

   I went to the Priors Dental Practice since the middle of 2019. Had an assessment to join but given no plans or any explanation of what was wrong with my teeth if anything. The consultation took at best 30 minutes which from my previous experience was short. Went for a check up in September 2019 again nothing was mentioned about any concerns. Went again just last week to be told that I needed a whole lot of treatments on my teeth. Again no explanation just you need to book it with no cost issues until you have to ask for it. I had to wait & then only had approximately 10 min with the hygienist who explained absolutely nothing about the treatment she wanted to do . Went then to see the dentist who said I had treatments with the hygienist again no explanation from the dentist apart from the hygienist is good. For 15 minutes I was charged £95 which was extortion. The whole experience was very poor & very unprofessional all they want to do is charge large amounts for a very poor service. I wouldn’t recommend this practice from my experience

   Simply the best dentists ever! Would not change for anything. Dentists are gentle, caring and my dentist is funny and makes going to the dentist a joy. They really care and provide advice, support, help and a fantastic environment. I hated going to the dentists and never thought I’d say it but I love going now, visiting priors is a pleasure. Their admin is excellent too, reminders and helpful admin/reception team. Love the monthly dental plan, never have to worry about paying. Nothing but genuine compliments for this amazing team. Love you priors!!

   Care is good, but frankly no more than you'd expect from a modern dentist's surgery. I have just decided to change from this surgery because their attitude to appointments is woeful. Whilst the waiting room is quite nice and comfy with lots of magazines it needs to be because you'll be spending most of your time at the practice here. They don't seem to realise that for most patients the waiting is worse than the treatment. Seeing as you are paying for this service my advice is to go elsewhere unless you are retired or otherwise have time on your hands.
