We had a lovely journey on the John Bunyan community boat. The sailing was safe and the service by the staff was superb. We had booked the boat for our walking group, and after a 6.5 mile walk beside the river, it was nice to be able to relax and enjoy the views from the boat as well as socialise with the various drinks and cold snacks that can be purchased on the boat. I will definitely consider going again.

We had a wonderful Afternoon Tea experience on the John Bunyan Boat. Such a relaxing afternoon floating along the river. A lovely atmosphere, delicious food from Creme Brew Lait and such dedicated volunteers putting everything in to make sure you have a super time. We will look out for other trips and definitely recommend this to others. Thank you.

Our party of 4 had a lovely evening on board. Prosecco and canapΓ©s and a lovely crew welcomed us. A very pleasant two hours cruising and ended with a sunset. A lovely experience, highly recommend as was value for money too!

Run by a load of volunteers who are very passionate about the river, the history and the town of Bedford. 2 hour cruise including a cream tea and informative commentary. Definitely a most if you are visiting Bedford. You may need to check if you need to book in advance.

What a wonderful experience. How silly we've lived in Bedford for 20+ years and we've never been on the river! The John Bunyan Afternoon Tea trip to Mercure Hotel was a lovely family outing. Beautiful scenery, fantastic volunteers who were all really knowledgeable of the history of the river and surrounding Bedford. We learnt so many new things about the town. The tea was delicious and the Mercure catered brilliantly for our Coeliac daughter with a gluten free tea. In fact she had more to eat than us...unheard of! We're already thinking about planning another trip in the opposite direction to Great Barford and The Anchor Pub.

On arrival we were told to wait on the grass as some of needed to use the facilities we did so not realising they were for the exclusive use of Marina residents and their visitors. The volunteer who came to greet us informed us we could not use the facilities and we should not be standing on that piece of grass as it belonged to the Marina when we said thats where we told to wait he asked by whom we explained it was a member of staff from john Bunyan boats . He told us to move. To say hi attitude left a lot to be desired would be an understatement . I have used these boats several times and have been on several of the boat trips I always found the volunteers to be very helpful . It's a shame this volunteer was anything but pleasant to us as a group of 14 most of the group had never used John Bunyan boats and will now think twice before doing so again .

I was on holiday in Bedford last august and on 26th august I decided to try the John Bunyan boat trip. I think it was an absolutely amazing cruise with great hospitality. The staff gave clear details about Bedford and the River Ouse.

Second time on the jazz cruise - so much fun! Top notch musicians, friendly volunteer staff and a lovely length of river cruise. Reasonably priced drinks on-board. Special shout out to skipper, Steve - such a nice gent :)

Lovely leisurely cruise through Bedford on the Great Ouse. All staff are volunteers and clearly enjoy their work. Very competent and friendly, good sense of humour. Boat is very comfortable. Would highly recommend.
