First of all, the food was incredible, cooked to order and bursting with flavour, standout dishes for me were the goat curry and the black pork, must try. Although we were the only people in the restaurant, service was very slow once we had gotten our food, only one server on who spent most of the time on his phone despite us trying to catch him for the bill. The atmosphere was to be expected for a Monday evening so can't say anything good nor bad about it. Overall id highly recommend this restaurant for the food.

Came here on a Wednesday date night so it was (understandably) quiet, but Alex looked after us, and was really lovely. The decor was cute, beach-y vibes and the food was delicious - we ordered 4 main dishes and 2 rice/bread sides between two of us and the quantity was perfect. Highly recommend the goat curry and the hot battered calamari. Thanks to Alex and the team - will be back to try other dishes!

I don’t really leave reviews for many places, but was honestly pretty disappointed, me and my mum came here to try some Sri Lankan food after work, and the food was just bland and overpriced. Was excited because they said everything par the pork dish was halal on the menu, so we ordered Chicken Kotthu, Egg Hopper, goat curry, sticky rice and some 2for1 mocktails. The egg hopper was okay because I wasn’t expecting it to be that flavourful since it’s basically a pancake with egg, and the chicken kotthu was probably the best in terms of what we got, but I was expecting spicier. The goat curry came to the table basically lukewarm, and sorely needed both salt and some spice, really disappointed because I was looking forward to that the most. Paired that with the sticky rice which was good. Ironically the best thing we had when we went for food wasn’t the food, but the mocktails, we had a pina colada one, only because it was 2 for £10, not worth it otherwise. Overall, service was good, but wouldn’t eat here again, you can get better food in Reading for a fraction of the price.

The hospitality at Coconut Tree Restaurant is truly warm and genuine. I am already in Sri Lanka, but this place feels like an entirely different experience — completely new and refreshing. If you are looking for a new reality, come to Coconut Tree. Here, you can discover new tastes, a new atmosphere, and perhaps the beginning of your own blossoming journey. One suggestion: I brought a lovely elderly lady , and she could not read the menu easily. A large-print menu for elders would be very helpful and much appreciated.

Superb dimly lit service was everything but dim. The atmospheric sensory joys of smells, sight, taste and texture. A great place to feel satisfied with an elephant cocktail vessel to top it off.

Nice location, good ambience, helpful and polite staffs but not a great bargain on food one evening on Monday in April. Supposedly there was 50% off food but it seemed so were the food portions 50% less than normal size. Very disappointed with the size of the dishes. On top of that Roti Protha was so tiny and didn’t taste a bit like it. Goat curry was awful and tasted like chewing a dark rubber cooked in Curry sauce!! But the service was good especially David who we found pleasant, helpful and knowledgeable to give the right answers.

The staff were very nice, and very welcoming. The food was nice, and had a lot of flavours. The kotthu was disappointing however, and barely had any chicken in it. But the rest of the food was very nice, and as I had expected. The food had a nice kick that elevated the flavours. The restaurant was very open and felt quite spacious, it livened up the overall atmosphere.

Easy to book, great accessible menu including Vegan and GF symbols, staff were lovely and welcoming. Egg Hoppers were one of the most amazing things I've ever eaten. Goat Curry was spiced but needed a bit more salt for those at our table, although the meat was beautifully tender. Rotis were crispy but fluffy, and the kale and coconut dish was totally mega. Will definitely be back - they also honoured my student card for a 20% discount and have a 50% discount offer on Mon-Weds running until the end of January 2022 as well. Really want to try the Tiki cocktail next time when not driving.
