Ordered for delivery. Arrived at almost exactly the predicted delivery time. I'm very impressed by the quality of the food here. I'd have been happy if I'd been served that at a resturant. Wish I'd known about this place sooner.
Well simply delightful had a few different items delivered this evening delivery was on time and still piping hot even though we ordered from Marehay.. Our daughter has bought a house close to the establishment and thought we needed to sample the food you know to make sure the house was a good investment and it surely is... The new number 1 for us..
Wow first visit had the mega munch box and wow the food was awesome best Chinese food I have ever had a must try the munch box is the best value you get so much for £25 the spring roo.s and samosas were unreal, ribss great taste chips were good not you cheap crap chips very chunky then the fried rice and noodles were a great, curry and sweet and sour sauces were just sublime all in all Deffo return, I only have one remark is the young man taking my order very how can I say , grunted there was no hello welcome to goldengate my names Jim how can I help, that sort if thing. But all in all best Chinese I've had from belper keep up the good work, I'll be back
I ordered some food online (Sun 01 Jun) which eventually arrived half an hour late. When I pointed this out to the young delivery man, all I got was a derisory "Sorry, matey". Is this the way to address someone old enough to be your grandfather? Also, when I placed my order, the app gave me the opportunity to leave a tip and it said all of it goes to the delivery person. I decided on a 10% tip only to find after I'd donated it, the 10% is calculated on not just the price of the food but that PLUS the delivery charge! I won't be using this establishment again. UPDATE. In reply to the unsavoury aggressive response from the owner. Regarding apologies, there is a world of difference between "Sorry matey" and "I'm sorry I'm late sir, but we've been very busy so far this evening." The attitudes of the delivery person and now the owner have thoroughly convinced me not to use this establishment in the future. You never get a second chance to make a first impression.
Crispy duck was okay, sweet and sour had little flavour and chicken chow mein was dry, plain boiled chicken and no sauce. Wouldn't recommend and expensive for the poor standard. Reply to below's response: No keyboard warrior here, I would have returned in person if not for the distance. Oh, your unapologetic and defencive reply is a good business tactic. Take a look at the Chow mein picture... it hasn't been stir fried, just boiled noodles and chicken. As for the cost, it's expensive for substandard food, I expected better for the price.
Ordered via just eat. The prawn toast were very greasy. The other dishes we just OK. Imo did not feel value for money.
Only our second time of ordering from The Golden Gate. Tonight we had a Duck dish, Yeung Chow Rice and Sesame prawn toasts. Ordered via JustEat site and delivery time was scheduled for 45 minutes. It was being dished up WELL inside 20 minutes- I'd barely had time to warm the plates so you can't ask for quicker than that!. The meal was piping hot, flavoursome and plenty for two of us. The delivery gent was very pleaseant and courteous so - thank you every one. An all-round fabulous experience.
My hot and sour soup was bland and taste only of chilli. Worst attempt @ thai red curry I have ever had. All you can taste is chilli and coconut milk no real flavour. Spare ribs were that nasty even cat didn't want them. Egg fried rice and sauces were okay. Very expensive which wouldn't be as bad if it was actually worth it. £15×2 for our meals and not even a complimentary bag of prawn crackers. Daylight robbery. Not recommended.
First and last time ordering tonight. Food was tasteless,greasy and over cooked. Ordered six things and only one dish was remotely edible. Don't waste your money
