   Not the best kilt hire I have come across. Had one guy doing the rentals dealing with multiple people. Didn’t actually get to try on the kilt only measured me and hurried me out the door. Apart from that the kilt itself was good quality and well put together but probably would go elsewhere in Aberdeen area next time

   Absolutely fantastic service. We were travelling from Australia for a family wedding and our luggage was lost in transit. We had nothing to wear. I called Mitchell Scott the afternoon before the wedding and they were so helpful. We went in the following morning and had my husband fully kitted out within the hr. My son also came along and was so impressed with the service we received that he bought several items for himself highly recommended

   I found Mitchell Scott’s to be expensive, poorly fitted and communication from the assistant was poor. My kilt was way too short for me. During the fitting our neck sizes were measured leading us to assume shirts were included in the hire, they aren’t and nobody clarified that so I had to rush the day before a wedding to buy shirts. Surely they should have at least tried to upsell shirts during the fitting?! 3 kilts for a weekend £390, feels expensive however I haven’t compared to other hire shops around Aberdeen.

   I cannot begin to say enough about this store. From our initial engagement with Milly from across the pond, to our day of “fitting” and retrieval, it is clear that this company is the epitome of both hire and bespoke Scottish gear. Their quality of hired goods, and their array of other items is stellar. And even the King is a customer. I definitely shall be coming back for some of their bespoke items. Well done, Mitchell Scott!

   We visited this shop today on the 28.12.23 as yesterday I broke the D ring piece that sits on my Sporran which connects the chains on both side,The staff in the shop were very helpful and friendly and managed to get me sorted with a brand new piece which now means I will be able to wear my kilt for the Hogmanay dinner dance celebrations thank so much for all of your help Mr & Mrs Clarke

   Superb customer service, great quality products and the staff provide a great duty of care to their customers. Very reasonably priced kilt hire also. I currently live in England and had to travel back to Aberdeenshire for my nieces wedding. I spoke to a lady who works in Gibbs who gave me all the information I needed to download the Kilt Hire Request form and send it back. I then picked up the full kilt outfit the day before the wedding. Unfortunately, somehow my tape measure didn’t quite match up to the actual sizes so I had to get a different outfit in the end ! However, the young gentleman that was kitting me out couldn’t have been more polite and helpful and I was out the door with my kilt shortly after. I would highly recommend Gibbs Gentleman’s Outfitters of Inverurie. The staff are very smartly dressed, polite and courteous and the shop itself looks amazing ! Thank you for helping make my weekend very enjoyable !

   With my wedding coming up I needed to hire four kilts. A good service was provided with fitting, and it was made clear that the shirts would be a double cuff, and it was also suggested by the owner that I could buy cufflinks as a gift for my groomsmen, which I did. Nathan provided an excellent service in measuring my groomsmen and I, explaining what was included in the hire, and helped us kilt novices make sure we wore them correctly. On the morning of the wedding, my groomsmen and I realised the shirts provided were not the quality shirts that we tried on during fitting. In fact, the shirts were Asda George shirts still in their packaging, unwashed and not even ironed. I called Gibbs to query this, and the owner immediately took a tone with me. She barked at me that they had no shirts due to a delivery delay so they had to run to Asda to get more (although I'm not sure what happened to their previous stock of shirts). I mentioned that I expected shirts with double cuffs, as was discussed with the other owner and staff member beforehand, to which she responded "If you're unhappy, return the kilts for a full refund!". This was only two hours before my wedding ceremony was due to start. I had to get one of my groomsmen to nip to a shop to buy a new shirt as the one provided was also the wrong fit. Gibbs could have highlighted to us when we were collecting the kilts that there was a supply issue with shirts, and my groomsmen and I would have had an opportunity to sort shirts ourselves, thus avoiding this whole ordeal. When I returned the kilts, the other owner immediately took a tone with me when I queried the shirts. He snapped "if I were to take the Asda labels off, you wouldn't even have noticed.". No recompense was offered for the mismanaged expectations, nor for the distress caused on the morning of my wedding. I was made to feel horrible over the whole ordeal by the business owners. I would urge any groom looking to hire a kilt to be wary if looking at Gibbs/Mitchell Scott. A company is always best measured not by when things go well, but how they handle things when things go wrong, and it seems in this case once they had my money, there as no incentive for them to make things right.
