Ordered goods online no problem, good prices. Went to collect, waited over 5 minutes before I was spoken to as dealing with another customer, by which time more customers arrived! Eventually buzzed for help. When I finally got there I was told I have to wait for someone to come and help!! Called back later to pick up with my phone order confirmation but oh no I couldn’t collect without ID! Really in this day and age no other store asks for ID - get up to date please, or you’ll loose custom!!

A huge thank you to Dan at the Bournemouth branch of Robert Dyas. He went out of his way to help and when one of the items I wanted wasn’t in stock, he tracked down the item for me and reserved it at another branch. Thank you very much, Dan; this was service far beyond what I expected and very much appreciated.

Very helpful and knowledgeable staff. I went in to buy one product - but came out with a better one.....and at a super price. Very pleased.

Not surprised they don't let post reviews on their website. Nasty experience, I bought an 8x6 shed. To start one of the bags containing some pieces was soaking wet. The quality is the poorest I have ever seen in a shed, bended wooden, the whole shed is full of cracks, I am waiting for a strong wind to see the shed to fly away as it is so thin, weak and awful, the "window" is a piece of thin cheap plastic. The customer service is terrible, they will not deal with the problem as they are not the "factory", well I paid Robet Dyas so they will have to respond. I will be seeking advice from Citizens Advice about my consumer rights. Also the shed is described as Sturdy which means is misleading, I may involve Trading Standards as well. I advise everyone to avoid to buy anything from this people!!

At its heart, this is an old fashioned hardware store which has tried to adopt a more contemporary image. The range of stuff they sell is very broad - that's a big positive. But their proposition used to be based - 30 years ago - around having stores in town centre locations. That was also a big positive, meaning you could go and get something during your lunch break rather than wait to make a weekend trip to an out-of-town B&Q or Homebase. I can't help feeling that they're now located anywhere and everywhere, and their prices have gone sky-high. Especially on lower-priced items (under a tenner, say) I'd recommend you do a bit of price-checking before buying anything here.
