My daughter has been attending Decorus Academy since she was 2 years old and has loved every single moment. Now aged 11, she takes classes with Miss Laura and Lauren in ballet, tap, musical theatre, acro, contemporary and modern. This is the most incredible dance school which has transformed my son into a skilled and successful ballet dancer over the few short years from aged 10 (zero dance experience) to aged 15 (just) a regular at Royal Ballet School Associates, ABT (possibly the top US ballet school), English National Ballet, Elmhurst, and soon to perform as a soloist at the Dance World Cup. This is all down to the unequalled drive, commitment, dedication and genuine empathy and compassion of the school’s founder and main teacher, Laura, who herself is an ex-Royal Ballet performer.
The atmosphere at the local village hall where the school is based in Lidlington is always positive and all the kids just love Laura and her team. The annual show is the highlight for many parents and children, and is a professional style production at the Venue MK. The creativity and commitment of the children is inspiring, and whatever talent lies within them is quickly exposed and confidence built. Excellence is pursued but never at the expense of inclusion, diversity or compassion.
Dance styles are numerous - ballet, jazz, tap, contemporary, accro, you name it. All ages and abilities welcome - and of course all genders! Mainly girls like most dance schools but boys are actively sought and developed as I can absolutely testify.
The school recently had about 30 children enter their RAD accredited exams and every single one passed - an amazing feat.
All in all, if you want your son or daughter to be welcomed, challenged and developed in a safe and happy atmosphere I can’t recommend Decorus Academy highly enough.
