First time here and we were pleasantly surprised. The breakfast was good VFM. You can order via a App but we couldn't get it to work. The service is good and the staff are helpful and friendly. There's plenty of seating. My latte was not hot which was the only disappointment.
Nice place, called in today for a quick coffee, this cafe has a comfy feel to it, coffee & cinnamon swirls were very nice indeed, the place feels well run, pleasant staff & the toilets are clean.
A really lovely looking restaurant with an appealing menu and it didn't disappoint. I had the Ham Hock Hash and it was one of the nicest breakfast dishes I have ever had, I may well have to return to Derby just to have it again! The portions were if anything a little too large but can you really complain about that? Absolutely worth a visit.
I stayed in Derby for a week and tried a few different places for breakfast. I found the book cafe to be the best. Excellent quality food. Particularly enjoyed the scrambled eggs which were light and flurry. Every item on the plate was of good quality. The location of the cafe is very central and the quirky ambience adds to the experience. Only slightly marked down service as there was no table service, only order at the bar was available but that said the staff were nice and friendly. I’d gladly return to the book cafe in the future and recommend to others
Without any doubt, it was the best breakfast and coffee I've had in a long time. Really interesting decor, comfy and clean. Brilliant service and friendly staff. I couldn't find anything bad to say. Awesome, thank you so much! - Since I wrote this review, we been several more times and their food has never failed to impress us!
Dear The Bookcafe management, It's been a very unwelcoming and disrespectful place to be eaten in. Firstly the staff at the counter were rude in their communication and fallowed by was served coffee in a cup which was not well cleaned and further to which staff were still at their bad attitude. May be because I am from a different ethnicity. But I couldn't make it out. But please train your staff that they work in a hospitality industry and they must follow the correct protocol while dealing with any kind of customer. Hope this is not repeated to any other customer like me. Thank you very much RAJU
Ordered myself a rump steak sandwich with creamy mushroom sauce. Didn’t disappoint me at all. Steak cooked medium rare which gives it nice texture, fries are lovely, nice and crispy. Located in a very nice building, high celling. Menu is very various. The staff was lovely and welcoming. Quick serving as well.
I’ve visited The Book Café with my boyfriend twice now, and both times were exceptional! The food is reasonably priced, delicious and well presented. I can highly recommend the salt and pepper chicken! ✨ The café itself is clean and quirky. I love the ability to order online and receive my food quickly. If you’re out and about in Derby and need somewhere to eat, The Book Café isn’t one to miss!
