Needed a place to grab a bit whilst waiting for a family member. This place is simply lovely. The service I was very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Had poached egg on toast with beans! Yum yum. You can really tell that this is a local favourite! Will be back for sure. Thank You!
They are amazing at custom cakes. So accomodating and creative. I was able to sit down and go over a cake design I thought up for a fun fall party, I wanted it to have autumn themes and look like patchwork blankets. Helen managed to make something and fit four amazing flavours in each square and it had tons of fall flavours. They are all worth the cost. By the end of the night it had been demolished, everyone loved it. Can't recommend them enough for cakes I've been ordering them for years- AND they have the best breakfast in town.
Lovely cafe in the market square. Nice seating area outside for when its a warm day. Lovely selection of cakes and hot drinks. My daughter was looking for something vegan at the time and they had a delicious biscoff cake. We all enjoyed some hot drink. The service was super friendly and helpful. Lovely atmosphere.
Stumbled upon Helen’s Bakehouse and what a gem! Warm welcome, delicious locally sourced food, and quirky decor that adds real charm. Breakfast was cooked to perfection, we’ll definitely be back!
Had a fabulous brekky here. Went for The Bakehouse Biggie with eggy bread and poached eggs. Top quality ingredients and cooked to perfection. I ate the lot. Very very tasty. Also had a pot of tea which made 3 cups of tea. Good quality tea (no gnats here !). Friendly staff, great service, good prices and very clean. Nicely decorated too. Highly recommended. I will be back.
Excellent cooked breakfast as always, but I have to say it feels like this place is slowly going downhill. Service exceptionally slow (15 minutes before anyone took our order!), it was freezing inside and when we asked about the heating, we were told it’s too expensive, so they only put it on a couple of hours a day. Would have thought that their price increases would have covered heating but doesn’t seem to be the case and not ideal when it’s really cold outside! We sat and ate with our coats on, as did everyone else with the exception of 3 people who were brave enough to take there’s off. Such a shame as this used to be a regular haunt of mine but won’t be anymore.
Many thanks to the staff who totally made my day yesterday, loved my cheese hammy egg toast and coffee. Love my new mug even more , great place to come for food, snacks , cake . Always polite service , home cooked food , nice atmosphere. Thank you again ❤️
The staff were lovley, food was so lovely and so reasonably priced! My mum and i shared a doorstop sausage and bacon sandwich and 2 crossaints and all was super! There is treats to take away too which is a lovely idea! We will be returning for more soon!
Been to Helen's Bakehouse in Burton Marketplace twice with my partner and we had full English breakfast. The food was excellent. They also have a wonderful selection of fresh cakes, a lovely environment, reasonable prices and friendly staff. Highly recommended.
Wonderful traditional cafe/bakehouse, cakes shop made not factory made. Excellent breakfast and light lunch menu with some innovative options. Very good prices, comfortable if compact seating area. Super staff very friendly.
