Lovely small village pub. You could tell everyone knew everyone, but didn’t put us off from staying and eating. Food was nice. Service was a bit slow, however, I believe the new owners haven’t been there long and they were very apologetic (we didn’t mind anyway).

Popped in for the use of the toilet on way from airport, felt cheeky but was greeted with a lovely smile from the new managers, thank you so much and I wish you well with your new venture, I'm sure you will make a brilliant go off it.

If I could leave no stars I would. We waited 20 mins after ordering to be told there was no steak. We only found out cause I went to bar to get a drink and I was told there. We then waited another 20 mins to order again as no one came over. I had to knock on the kitchen door and ask to order. The chef was laughing with the waitress who was just stood there eating. My daughters jacket potato came out rock hard. I told the waitress who said she would tell chef. We waited to see if we would be offered another but no one came. So we shared our meal with our daughter. We asked for the bill and I’m glad I checked. We were charged for 2 steaks that never turned up! Would not recommend. It was so much better with the last people who ran the place. Never had a bad meal in there till now. Better the devil you know.

Possibly the friendliest pub ever We hadn’t planned on calling in at a pub but after a lovely walk we stopped on chance. We didn’t have masks but the staff kindly provided us with one each so that we could order and use indoor facilities if needed. We enjoyed our drinks sitting by the side of the river watching the world go by. Staff were lovely and attentive, provided water and treats for our puppy. Beer was also good - shame we were just passing through as the food also looked great

Brilliant local boozer on the canal, with a secret weapon: the quality of their steaks (both cuts and chef). Generous portions off a pretty standard bar menu (steak, steak pie, steak sandwich, mixed grill etc), and perfectly executed. Not really for vegetarians (1980's style limited choice) and decor on the shabby / rustic side with a thousand fairy lights over the top. A great walkers' refuelling point.
