   I remember visiting this cathedral for a Sunday service during my brief time in Derby in late September 2025. Apparently, I was the youngest guy there, wearing nothing but formal attire—a shirt and pants. Haha. It was my first time attending a church service in Europe. Although I went for the said Mass, which happens at around 8:30 a.m., don’t expect many people here. There were hardly 10 people when I first visited. I loved the celebrating priest, though I can’t recall his name now. Most of the parishioners were really nice. The church is quite peaceful and serene. There’s nothing more beautiful than waking up in the morning to attend a service here. For first-time visitors, there are leaflets placed in the middle of the church, which I recommend taking. They include the responses and will help you participate more effectively in the service and avoid feeling confused like I did. Overall, I loved my experience here. I’m still contemplating whether this church is Catholic-affiliated, as I am Roman Catholic. But yes—10/10 experience.

   I would not recommend purchasing concert tickets for this venue unless sitting in the Center pews as the stage set for concerts is 80% obscured by the huge columns which feature in the cathedral, We paid £140 for 4 tickets to watch country artists Ward Thomas, but left before they even started as we could not see the stage from the balcony or side isles. Our tickets suggested ‘slight’ viewing restrictions but this is a complete lie spun by the promoter and cathedral management to sell tickets at £35 each They know the stage only has 20% visibility therefore should either state this in thier ticket sales advertising or refrain from selling tickets where faithful fans are let down so badly My family and I traveled all the way from Northern Ireland for this show and paid over £300 on travel and tickets costs (plus our time getting there and back) and was unable to receive that we paid for

   Derby Cathedral is a beautiful and peaceful place to visit. The architecture is stunning, and the staff are friendly and welcoming. They explain the history and details of the cathedral with great interest. It’s a wonderful spot to relax, reflect, and admire the beauty of the city’s heritage.

   New experience by night. Great to see the cathedral is as pretty at night as it is in the daytime. Always welcoming and run by a friendly team. Amazing seasonal events and such a beautiful grand place. The Christmas concert is always spectacular. Thank you.

   Beautiful cathedral close to the city center. When I was visiting, late Sunday afternoon, there were two staff members who offered a guide paper and some information. Simple, but nice, way to get a little more out of the visit. Free to visit.

   Beautiful Georgian-style cathedral in the heart of Derby. It rivals Leicester Cathedral for the smallest cathedral in the Midlands (or England as a whole?). Beautiful layout, plenty of architectural details. It is also notable for its frequent activities, like concerts and temporary art projects. The latter was evident during my latest visit in October. A giant globe was hanging from the ceiling as part of the "Gaya" exhibition. Among many interesting objects you'll find the grave slab of Joseph Wright of Derby, the town's most historically important painter. Head over to Derby Museum and Art Gallery to see some of his famous works. During my visit, I accidentally caught an organ rehearsal. Have never been able to attend a concert here, alas.

   A very nice Cathedral, whilst quite different and not as lavishly decorated compared to other UK Cathedral's I've visited. We spoke to Karen who worked at the Cathedral and she was very knowledgeable, made our visit in fact. Free to enter.

   I'm not religious in any way, I don't go to church or believe in any god; however, I do appreciate the history, vision, craftsmanship, architecture and dedication to buildings like Derby Cathedral. The Cathedral Church of All Saints Derby is a grade 1 listed cathedral located in cathedral green, it was once the centre of the medieval town. The original Anglo-Saxon church was completed in around 943 by King Edmund 1; however, nothing remains of it. The church as seen today is actually Georgian and was completed in 1725 by James Gibbs, in 1967-72 a retroquire was added, the square tower is 212ft (65m) tall and dates back to 1510-32 making it the oldest part of Derby's cathedral. The tower also house's the world's oldest ring of ten bells dating from around 1678. There's a small underground chapel called St Katherine's and the hugely impressive tomb of Bess of Hardwick. They often have events such as Church of the Moon, Peace Doves, and the Knife Angel, well worth a visit even if like myself you have no religious beliefs.
