I have been registered with Woolston Lodge for over six years. For most of that time, the service was acceptable—far from exceptional, but generally adequate. Over the past year, however, the standard of care has deteriorated significantly, to the point where I now have genuine concerns about patient safety. One particularly worrying example was when my three-year-old daughter tested positive for salmonella and we were effectively advised to “sleep it off,” with no meaningful guidance, follow-up, or reassurance. That response was alarming and, in my view, irresponsible. Access to appointments has also become increasingly difficult, making it very challenging to receive timely care when it is genuinely needed. That said, it would be unfair not to acknowledge that some members of staff consistently go above and beyond and are genuinely helpful. Unfortunately, this is no longer reflected in the overall service. As a result of these ongoing issues, we have decided to change GP surgery, as we no longer feel confident that we would receive appropriate care when it matters most.

Whilst discussing options around treatment for my son (8) during an appointment the Dr made me feel like I was a pain and over reacting to then say 'well we could do a blood test but you would have to go to the hospital and you know... stabbing' as if to scare him. Didn't feel listened to and when I checked if I needed to see reception he said no to then get a text that says have to collect a form from reception. Chartwell surgery is miles above the service and advice from woolston. Despite the partnership I won't be accepting any appointments at woolston in the future.

Absolutely shocking. Started at position 30 in the queue, over 1.5 hrs on hold/waiting for call-back, explained symptoms fully only to be told I had to fill in an e-consult online. Filled out the e-consult which said it couldn’t process further, because of the symptoms noted down I had to speak to someone in person. Symptoms that I had already described in person during my first call! Ridiculous time-wasting system. Second call to the surgery didn’t even tell me what position in the queue I was in, only that it was now 30+ people waiting. Very annoyed.

Dangerously diabolical surgery. The difference between Woolston Lodge and Chartwell Green is phenomenal. Was sent to Chartwell for an emergency appointment not long ago, the receptionists both on the phone and at the desk were warm, welcoming, helpful and pleasant. The wait time to be seen was impressive and the doctor was polite, understanding and extremely thorough. Woolston Lodge couldn’t be more different. Telephone staff are hit and miss, the woman on reception the other day showed utter contempt for every patient she spoke to, I had to wait 50 minutes past my appointment time to be seen, yet if I’d turned up even five minutes late they would’ve cancelled my appointment, and the diy check-in screen is completely inaccurate when notifying you how many people are in front of you and how long the wait time is; they’ve forced this e-consult situation onto everyone and I get the same terrible half-job doctor every time I request an appointment who only ever does the bare minimum so I keep having to contact the surgery and go back for more information and more help. There’s no communication between any of the staff so the right hand doesn’t know what the left is doing, in fact NO ONE there knows what they’re doing but they all seem to blame the patients for their inadequacies; It’s an absolute shambles, I don’t understand how this surgery is still allowed to operate.

Been with woolston lodge for years! It used to be ok! never great but lately it’s been a diabolical surgery, I moved 5 miles away but decided to stay with them so whenever I make appointments I make them for after work (as hard to take the time off) I called & made an appointment at the end of October for my daughter for the middle of November (consultation 1st) so 1 of two appointments, took 40 minutes to get there only to be told she didn’t have an appointment booked! Was not impressed as when I made the appointment I wrote it straight in my notes! The receptionist said it was booked 9.30 on a different day! no chance as I make my appointments after 4pm! Couldn’t get anyone to see her as fully booked even though every time you go in there, only 2 people are sat in the waiting room, nurse off sick so what? Flob the appointments off without telling people! Disgusting! Sufficed to say came straight home & signed up to a new surgery, good riddance woolston lodge!

Have lost my newborn daughter’s registration form twice! Massive breach of data protection. Receptionist was VERY rude saying “your not asking for much are you” as I asked if I they could call me to let me know when she is registered as she is coming up to 8 weeks and needs her immunisations. As they have lost her form twice I will be taking this further as this is very serious! Who knows what else they have lost or what data has been irresponsibly shared!

If you can arrange a face-to-face appointment here, you should buy a lottery ticket. It is impossible. The receptionists are abrasive, with very little compassion. I have not experienced another doctor's surgery like it. It isn't very good.

Hopeless, one person on reception, queue out the door. Sending prescriptions to the wrong place, not taking ownership for it. Can't get an appointment with a GP for love nor money. Ring at 8am over 30 in the queue ring at 2pm the same. It was a great surgery but something if has gone dramatically wrong for it to get in such a state.

When and if you get to see a dr good but getting to this point is disgusting! I phoned at 8.05 this morning put on hold in a que as I was number 30 in the que! One hour later I get connected the lady said she could not hear me on my landline (no problems my end I could hear her) well she did not disconnect the call and I could hear everything she was saying the lack of confidentiality was appalling I could hear her talking about one of the drs with another colleague. Eventually she did disconnect me after 15 minutes of listening to her talking. Mean while I used my mobile to call the surgery and was 19 in the que and I waited for my turn. Young girl answered and I explained what had happened in my previous call and she did not seem to understand what i was saying and said how could you know who was off sick last week!! Because I was listening to her conversation as she would not disconnect my call. 2 hours later and 2 phone calls. All on different phones I still did not get an appointment to see or speak with a dr.

When it was Woolston Lodge Surgery and Canute Surgery the sevice was better. General concensus with everyone I know that now uses the surgery post them merging, is the quality of service is terrible. Not through fault of the staff necessarily but the bright spark that thought this merge would be somehow better for patients. To call the surgery nowadays on the one phone line and to be told you're number 28 in the queue is not unusual. Looks very modern, but clearly lacking funds on getting more staff.
