My daughter who is 25 weeks pregnant with fast heart rate atteneded ED at Derby . The attitude of the nursing staff was awful. Male nurse at 1pm yesterday 1st jan refused to remove cannula. Sat at a desk. Said he was too busy doing something else. My daughter removed the cannula herself and placed cannula in sharps bin and she advised she had removed it herself as she is an ANP to which he pulled a face. Yes derby ED nurses great you are wearing body cameras to record patient interaction with yourself. You would be unlikely to be rude then!!!! These nurses need to be reported to the NMC

After having a hysterectomy 3 days previous, I started to vomit so much I was vomiting stuff from my small intestine it was revolting. An ambulance was called I was in so much pain and was extremely weak, I just wanted to die. Going to A&E I thought I'd be looked after, but instead I was put in a pit stop area for 8 hours without seeing a dr, the nurses were very nice and gave me anti sickness, but still I was left curled at the bottom of my bed around my bag. They then moved me to an A&E ward? Where i was abandoned, I expected to be transferred to gynaecology assessment unit as my hysterectomy was so fresh, but instead I was in a ward with a lot of old people who had the flu and norovirus, i was terrified and alone. I was just left in a side room with no buzzer, no water and when i went to the toilet it was unusable with faeces everywhere. Worst 16hrs of my life! When a dr did come to see me i cried! He ordered a ct scan and discharged me after 16hrs. 2 days later I ended up in the gynaecology assessment unit, where i was found to be impacted and needing an enema, the nurses were shocked that A&E didn't do this for me. I hope to never ever be in Derby Royal A&E again! The sad fact is that if you have to go you have to go, i had to go because the only thing to stop me being sick was meds given by IV.

Wait times are ridiculous, and whilst I know that's the same across the NHS at the moment, the lack of communication to everyone in the waiting room is unreal. Been here since 6:30pm last night, and we're still here. Information isn't being passed across to staff or doctors on allergies or other information. Mum needs IV fluids, that was written out 3 ½ hours ago. There's still no fluids, and still nothing on her file.. came here after everyone raves about how good the place was..

My 80 year old mum is in here now. She had a fall, is dealing with cancer, heart disease. I can’t speak to a nurse, the only nice person was the receptionist at the beginning of the conversation. I’ve called three times since 5. Won’t give me a name, won’t update me, can’t get any information and I explained I live 100 miles away. A broken system ran by hostile broken people. An almost siege type mentality.update had a call back from a more helpful nurse, changed from to 3. Still applies.

Long waiting times, and low staffing levels are par for the course now at any A&E. However, pain management is one of the fundamental and basic functions that should be provided. In my case, it wasn't. Not until admission to a ward was my acute, severe pain assessed and properly dealt with - some 8 hours after initial admission to the hospital.

Terrible waiting times. Very poor management. Went in at 5 pm came out at 3am. There were not even a dozen patients, but seem totally unprepared to handle these volumes let alone high numbers in case of accidents, natural disasters etc that in other countries' A&E are dealing with. Visiting this place is a traumatic experience for children as well as parents. Government has no money for NHS but plenty for foreign wars.

Absolutely brilliant, I was cared for, given a warm blanket, MRI was fine (I fell asleep), got home 01:30 ish today. I've worked night shift so I can understand (not under those circumstances) may God bless them all

Shocking. Brought my 77 year old mum to A&E Derby Royal. Still waiting to see a consultant 10 hours later. The staff look Demoralised, overwhelmed, which leads to poor service. Angry even, care and empathy has gone. I could see two consultants covering A&E. One disappeared for over an hour.

Absolutely amazing. From the receptionist, nurses and doctors. The nurse that dealt with my little girl in a&e was just amazing. Explained to us what she needed to do to sort the problem and sorted it. Seen and dealt with very quickly. So very caring and compassionate; made my little girl laugh when she wasn’t feeling herself. These people need to be recognized for the amazing work they do every day, despite what they are up against working for the NHS. Thank you!
