   Let me put it this way: all the rooms at the front are a no-no cause of smell and noise from the traffic. Of the rooms at the back, you can discard all the low levels because of noise from the beer garden and the one from the stumping of the floor above you. You're left with 4 rooms at the back/top floor. Eliminate any summer day cause there is no aircon and it gets way too hot. Your problems are not stopping here: for some reasons, smokers really like a Travelodge... maybe cause no one does anything about the fact that they smoke in the room. And you're left with the stench and nowhere else to go. Staff is unhelpful, they don't seem able to do much about anything. Last time the stench of cigarette in my room made it impossible to stay. T&C state that the hotel should provide an alternative accommodation, but they did nothing at all. I was left stranded at 11pm when i made a booking one month before. To top it all, Customer Service denied me a refund, for no reasons. They deflect any request, they play dumb, they even said "we informed the hotel, thank you for your feedback". It was impossible to get any refund. I have escalated, reported them to Trading Standards through Citizen Advice and the case for a refund is still open.

   I've stayed in 3 Travelodge hotels in the Southampton area over the past four months while I found a flat of my own. The one in Eastleigh is by far the worst of all. I have no illusions Travelodge is a budget hotel chain. If their star rating were awarded for the other side of things, instead of the services they provide, then I would rate them as a one star at best. Eastleigh hotel has no car parking other than two spaces reserved for Blue Badge holder at the rear. Even then, they are often used by hotel maintenance or by a member of staff none of which hold a blue badge. This caused me, a blue badge holder with extreme walking difficulties, to park 250 yards away in the carpark next to Sainsbury's on nine occasions as all street parking spaces were unavailable. Walking to the hotel was bad enough but in poring rain with a bag, not funny. I confronted the manager the last time it happened. She said the receptionist did not want to incur a parking fine! Besides, you are checking out now so what does it matter!! Next, the rooms. You must be willing to put up with the noise from the traffic and train station which is so loud at times you can't hear yourself think. Then there are the boy racers and Barry Sheen wannabes racing up and down the road all night long in their tuned up cars and the motorbikes with no silencers. Iit's impossible to get a good nights sleep because the double glazing seals are so bad that in two of my rooms the wind whistled and curtains moved. The beds are comfortable, apart from the rooms with disability beds. They are so low every morning was a struggle to get off them. Bedding is white and most were badly creased some with stains. From the six different rooms I stayed in during my 4 months as every 28 days they move you to a different room, the light sourounding the headboard either didn't work or had issues. It's also the best one. Some carpets were stained and one room I could smell urine which was so strong it made my eyes water. After I complained instead of moving me the head of housekeeping said, "Yes, I know. We had a burst pipe several months ago which affected the whole floor." The fans supplied are useless unless you are deaf and have no sense of smell. Sleeping with the window open is impossible. All you can smell is the cooking from the pub next door and the strong smell of cannabis. Even though there is a no smoking policy and stickers on the filthy windows which haven't been cleaned in years probably, people still smoke in the rooms and people smoke weed in the pub garden. If you do need to use a fan which will be filthy, then be warned, it may fall apart when you pick it up. Overall the staff are friendly part from the head housekeeper, who likes to over share things about her personal life. The hotel manager who would always correct me or have an excuse and she never apologised. One young receptionist was always in a mood be it grumpy or a bad. Most of the time she was on her mobile phone. In my 4 months stay I never saw that girl smile once. Then there was the guy on the night shift who acted like he never knew what he was doing. When I asked him for a receipt for paying £20 for my dog, I had to come back later because he said he didn't know how to print one off. I can't name names but the majority of receptionist are happy smiling helpful girls who are always willing to chat including those who work permanently on nights. Always helpful and enjoyed a good chinwag. The housekeeping ladies on all 4 floors were great apart from one who was always moody and never smiled. I found out she was good friends with the hotel manager. See the photos I uploaded in no particular order. Dirty windows, mirrors. Filthy balcony top. The light around the headboard which when it worked was brilliant. A disabled bathroom with a sink so low I struggled to use it. It also had insufficient storage room for my toiletries. Blue Badge parking bays occupied by hotel maintenance or staff.

   Room was tiny, so was the bathroom. TV was tiny and about 20 years old. So noisy with the train station opposite. Bed was sized for a child. Aeroplanes flying past and cars revving down the road outside, so impossible to open the window. Towels not changed in three day stay. Only saving grace of this place was reception staff who were great. Find somewhere else, nightmare.

   We are spending the weekend here. It's a great location if you want to travel anywhere as it's directly across from the train station. The bed is comfortable, and the rooms are neat and clean. Could use some kind of shelf space for your clothes as you only have hanging space. Pressure in the shower was strong, which is definite plus. There is parking at the train station across the road which is also not too expensive. Overall a good stay

   2 stars at best. On first glance everything looks fine, then you notice all the dirt, dust and overall poor cleaning of not just the room but the hallways etc too. We had splash marks on the headboard and it was covered in dust. There was a picture above the bed that looked like it had lines on the picture...turns out it was dirty wipe marks. The bathroom was pretty grim, actually stood on a towel in the bath to have a shower! Cant comment too much on the staff, but the ones me and my partner met weren't the friendliest and were quite rude about a late checkout as they claimed they "needed to clean the room". Yet quite clearly they barely even do that. Windows have a big draft in them and with an airport AND a railway close by, it was pretty loud too. Will avoid this hotel.

   Great budget hotel with no parking but plenty of paid parking options close by. The staff is very helpful and helped me find suitable parking. The rooms are lovely and clean with extra towels, bedding and an electric radiator that heats up quickly. You have a desk with tea and coffee selection and a kettle. Space to hang your clothing and a telly. Paid WiFi is needed. There is a great pub next door that serves a wide range of meals with very friendly staff and cheery customers. Within walking distance of a variety of shops, restaurants and takeaways.
