We had a wonderful Christmas Day lunch as a family! It was such a lovely time, and while the staff were clearly rushed off their feet, the food and service were excellent. There was one unpleasant incident with a guest being unnecessarily rude to the team, which was a little unsettling, but it didn’t take away from our experience. Overall, it was even better than last year, and last year was already great – so it really can’t be beaten! We will definitely be back.

Me and my friend treated ourselves to the Boxing Day 3 course set menu at The Swan and it was awful. We emailed in our choices back in November as requested yet the service was so excruciatingly slow. We had to ask our waitress if we could order drinks because she never asked us for them. Our starter took 45 minutes to arrive and our main took a following 45 minutes to the point where we had to ask our waitress where it was. I wish I was exaggerating but we took photos throughout the meal and I’ve checked the timestamps of each photo. Surely the kitchen staff had the meals prepped to some extent since they already knew the orders and amount needed? On top of this when we finally got our food it was a total let down. The starter was a humble piece of cheese and lettuce, the main was of similar standard to a £9 burger from Hungry Horse and the desert was minuscule. After 2.5 hours we were the last people in the restaurant and we asked for the bill, this took a further 30 minutes. At this point we felt like we were being held hostage. When I got up and asked the staff again for it as we had somewhere to be, the response was rudely ‘yeah I’m getting it’, no apology or explanation for the wait. 3 hours and £42 wasted. I would never recommend eating here and won’t be coming back.

We had a great experience, this is our first visit to the Swan and to the coaching inn group, we were pleasantly surprised. We had evening meal twice and each time we couldn’t fault the food or service. All the staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. The hotel is clearly well managed. We can’t wait to tell our friends about it. Highly recommended.

A little disappointing. Super busy on arrival which is expected for a Sunday before Christmas. Check in was fine, once you got someone’s attention. Room was nice. Spacious and well appointed. But for dinner, no one knew where our booking was for, no one came to tend to us so we moved tables. Twice. Ordered at the bar and mains were lovely. Hot and quick to come. We then waited over 45 minutes for (terrible) deserts (which was an un set chocolate mousse which was more like a flat, gritty angel delight, and a ‘Christmas pudding’ splodge the shape of a sausage roll with the texture of jam). By this time the place was empty. Seemed there wasn’t enough staff to cover the many areas of service. And if there was, they weren’t organised at all. Rather cheeky when 10% is automatically added to the bill for service! Sad as the place is lovely, busy, very dog friendly and the food was great. May just be bad timing, as it was the busiest place by far in the town centre. Plus, it was a completely different story thw next morning, with attentive, friendly service, good food and a lovely atmosphere.

Enter stay. First time visiting for an afternoon tea. Was very impressed with the interior and the Christmas decorations. We were warmly welcomed and shown to a table in the window. The afternoon tea didn’t disappoint. There was a good variety of sandwiches and the fillings were very generous. The scones were delicious, the only niggle was that there was only a small pot of jam between people. The cakes were lovely and the chocolate pot so rich. Will certainly come again.

I had a lovely stay in this hotel. Great food, friendly staff and a good price for my stay there. The room was lovely. I especially like the DAB Radio in the room, as well as a big screen TV. A nice surprise for a radio enthusiast. I look forward to returning there when I'm back in the Midlands - hopefully in the not too distant future.

Did not stay but visited the Restaurant. First time and the meal was beautiful, staff were attentive and service good. Will definately be visiting again but more dairy free or vegan deserts are needed as sorbet is not a desert option.

We stayed here the night before our wedding and the staff were so incredibly helpful - especially Raven and Christian who were brilliant! A huge shout out to them as they went the extra mile and really made our stay special. The restaurant in the evening was excellent and so were the waiters and staff (the chicken was delicious - special compliments to the chef). The hotel itself is wonderful and we just wouldn't stay anywhere else in Stafford. An awesome hotel with impeccable staff - perfect! Thank you so much.
