I’ve been part of the Reading dance scene for over 21 years, and joined Urban Stylez nearly 4 years ago. They’re one of the very best in Berkshire for true foundations in street styles - especially locking, popping, house, lite feet, old school hip hop and breaking (plus the occasional workshops in Afro, waacking, and more over the years). If you want to learn it right, learn it here. Their competition credentials speak for themselves. Not only that, you get all the endorphins you need from this feel-good group. You aren’t moulded into a carbon copy of each other or the teacher/s, you’re can bring your individual style whilst respecting the foundations/origins of the style. Plus every dancer in whole company can take part in their annual show without audition. I’ve especially loved learning from Jenna in the advanced adult class on a Monday for the last few years. I’ve seen the improvement and can bring that through amongst the other Reading dance companies I perform/take class with. (They also actively encourage learning from wherever you can).
A brilliant and professional company where you can learn real streetdance moves in a fun and friendly atmosphere. No matter what age, there's something for everyone regardless of whether they've had experience in dance before or not. There are also classes available in Tilehurst and Woodley. I have been dancing with Urban Stylez for around 3 years now and couldn't ask for anything more. I've had the chance of dancing in the annual showcase, made new friends and had opportunities to learn from professional dancers who are big in the industry. My confidence has increased, which really helps my self belief, and my knowledge of the many streetdance styles is continuing to grow and improve. Need I say more?!
Amazing people to dance with, the teacher Jenna is such a motivational and inspiring person! Urban stylez is a second family to me. Would highly recommend anyone looking to make amazing friends and learn how to dance to join Urban stylez!
Outstanding Street Dance company! With classes across Reading teaching all styles of street dance. Fun and enjoyable classes for all ages. Talanted crews that have competed across England and at UDO worlds comp. I personally have so much love for the Company and the people there.
Great classes for all ages and amazing people really welcoming. The talent these people have is incredible and they really put 110% in to help you. Check them out!! They dominate any competition they go to with all groups. Better than any other dance groups by far. None of this wack danceing just real street dance back to the roots!
