They make events, with a spotify playlist. No DJ expense. No cleanup staff.Maybe they only invested in paper streamers? that's all! scammed and fleeced before witnessing this. don't go here. shocking .
Our first visit to Sobar last night. We drove up from Cornwall. We had read reviews from others and were a bit concerned about the apparently over zealous doormen. However we found all the staff to be great. The patience of the tall lady supervisor at the upstairs bar when dealing with a fussy customer was amazing. The atmosphere was great. Drinks were expensive but tap water and ice were freely given and definitely needed as it was very hot in there. Would definitely visit again of theres something that appeals to us there.
friends bday! paid ages ago for VIP and line jumper, got there and we wasn’t on the VIP list, had to wait half hour outside, to then find that the VIP is a couple of picnic benches to the side. 1 bench each, in order to use VIP had to buy 2 bottles of booze at £130 each, minimum purchase is 2! the bottles was half empty, soft drinks flat and warm. then security leave the VIP at 9pm, so the area got absolutely swarmed by non VIP payers! totally pointless. ticket said after party 3am closure, didn’t state the event ended at 10pm! toilets was absolutely horrendous, i have never experienced anything like it, every toilet blocked, covered in sick and other bodily fluids! was told by staff the after party was a 5min walk, turned out half hour walk and was a standard typical night club at £25 to get in! all a scam really, won’t be going back, poor bday celebration!
Paid months in advance for a Halloween ticket and people who have paid for a single Halloween ticket on the day were given priority. We were told the entire other queue had to be cleared first which was upwards of an hour and a half wait. Joke of a club and management needs to sort themselves out.
Can’t believe all the negative reviews on this place. From start to finish ALL the staff were polite and very helpful. My phone died of battery which the bouncer overheard, he called a taxi and let me phone my partner to let him know what happened and was on my way home. He asked if I had enough money for the taxi and offered to help but I always keep money back for this. I had a brilliant night and have been back a few times since. Tuesdays are wicked but weekends are also a good laugh. Beer garden is sooooo big. I love it here. It’s my favourite spot to go for a night out.
Headed to Sobar with friends, fantastic night and really helpful and supportive staff. I ended up partying on longer than my friends, they made sure I got home safely. Would definitely be back
Love the music, has a brilliant outdoor garden area and the staff are very friendly. Have read reviews saying the bouncers are rude, but they’re always super kind to me. Love it, especially their summer garden events.
Brilliant venue! Family run business. I Always feel very comfortable, I would say that is due to the staff and bouncers being very efficient and not allowing any problems. for customers and local residents. their is a high volume of students as the university is close. as we all know they are not the best with experimenting with alcohol so regarding negative reviews aimed at the bouncers. Remember they have to maintain the safety of the customers and also their premises and licences, and will not have people being irresponsible. I have never witnessed any issues! I like that idiots understand from the front door that trouble or stupidity is not welcome. Well done on maintaining that level of security as you don’t get that in a lot of venues in Southampton!
Most nights its quite dead, but Sobar Tuesdays are the best night out in Southampton. It is absolutely packed and £2 quad vods are the best priced club drink out there. Music is quite good but it doesn't matter because everyone you know is there and 3 quad vods deep.
