Every time you ride you probably have a few bib shorts or tights to pick from, several base layers, jerseys, gloves and prob even sunglasses but you will always go to the same shoes. Get it right with Lake.
I have spent a small fortune on overshoes over the years but my feet are always cold in winter. The Lake MX146 has transformed my riding in temps down to 2degrees. ( so far).

I'd never bought from or even heard of Salt Dog Cycling before, but I was looking for a specific pair of Lake winter boots and Salt Dog were the cheapest online. I'm always a bit sceptical when buying from websites new to me, but I read a few reviews and they were all overwhelmingly positive, so took the plunge and ordered them at 9:30pm on 16th Dec. Shipping was free, so didn't think I'd get them for a good 5 days or so, as is often the case these days, but imagine my surprise when I got an email the following day to say they'd be delivered on the morning of 18th Dec. Richard Sault has been a STAR in capital letters. Here's my review finding and ultimately purchasing the right shoes for me from Salt Dog Cycling.
I have unusual feet with high arches, wide and a pronounced arch on the top of the foot due to Talipes ( birth defect effecting 1/1000 newborns ). So finding a good fit has been a challenge, especially for a sport like cycling, where narrow shoes are the trend. So I've spent many hours looking into wide fitting cycling shoes.
I found Salt Dog on-line and contacted Richard via email one evening. Richard called just after 10am the following morning and spent over an hour discussing my needs and possible options available. I emailed over photos of my feet and measurements to help draw on Richards expert knowledge to find a suitable shoe.
Another conversation with Richard the following day and it came down to 2 possible models of the the Lake brand. The national supplier of Lake happened to be very local to me, and with careful persuasion from Richard it was agreed that I could call in and try both model of shoes on. Seeing that I was a special case ( in a good way ).
Thankfully the option was clear due to the volume needed to fit my feet, and all I had to do was decide on colour. CX241 in Black or White. These shoes are so adaptable and cater for unusual shaped feet. Offering a wide range of fit was needed, and they fit so much better than the Shimano's I've been struggling with for years.
Dave was very patient and explained the heating process and correct way to lace up, or should I say twist up. The Boa system is very effective and easy to use. Richard even called during the fitting to make sure I was comfortable and all was well.
The service from Richard and Dave has been 5 Stars. Buying cycling shoes isn't cheap, but having the expert support and guidance is priceless ! Thank you Richard, and Dave at Lake for all your help and understanding.
