Our dog Luna recently injured her back, and after feeling dismissed and unsupported by our previous vet, we were left completely lost about how to help her recover. We decided to visit Larkmead for a second opinion — and we are so glad we did. From the moment we arrived, the practice felt modern, welcoming, and friendly. We were seen by Florena, who was absolutely amazing. She took the time to listen, understand Luna’s history, and answer every question we had. She clearly explained all the possible options, including the recommendation for X-rays which we proceeded with. After reviewing the X-rays with her colleagues, Florena phoned us with a clear summary of their conclusions and a practical short-term care plan. At our follow-up appointment, she was just as caring and thorough — she even watched Luna walk into the room to assess her gait and remembered personal details from our previous conversation, including that I’d had a back operation myself. We left feeling reassured, supported, and finally confident that Luna is in the right hands. We’re incredibly grateful to Florena and the whole team and will be moving Luna’s care to this wonderful vet surgery going forward. Highly recommended.

Always super helpful and efficient. When you have precious puppies, you need to make sure they have a good experience!

We've been with Larkmead for over 2 years now. We've had to take our girl Ripley in a few times now, most recently for her spay about a year ago, and then for confidence classes as she developed a fear of visiting the vet. They always take great care of her. They tried to help our oldest cat, Mystral a few months ago but sadly he didn't make it, but everyone was so supportive and he was treated with love and dignity. Thank you. xx

Our cat Tilly was taken to Larkmead after being attacked by a dog. Unfortunately, Tilly did not survive her injuries, but I believe that they did absolutely everything they could to save her. The staff at Larkmead were incredibly caring and very sympathetic in dealing with us. Lovely people.

We were a customer of Larkmead vets for 7 years, during that time the service went for Great to a long way from great. Post lockdown, its clear that the core focus was about making money. When you pay for a service & can't have a health check in person why would you not adjust for this? On one occassion we had missed 2 Health checks due to covid, yet when we came in for a visit we were still charged an extra fee? What exactly was the month fee we paid. They suggested I should monitor the healthchecks and advise if we were due a free one. Why do you have a computer system, but I need to do the checks. Finally when we moved we found we could not close our account, we had to be chaged for a full year, despite living 1.5hrs away. They agreed to send our medicines in the post, but of course it would be impossible for us to do healthchecks in person with a 3hr round trip. But they are still petty enough to charge us £6 for postage even through they would not need to actually provide the healthcheck service. I would urge you to check around for a less cynical service.

It used to be good. We used them since Feb 2012 however the accounting and tracking of bills to card payments got rubbish during the summer of 2022. I work in finance, pay each bill on each end of visit and I kept a spreadsheet tracking bills and payments . We had random extras not authorised, could not speak to anyone to resolve without multiple calls. In the end what blew it was bringing up a bill (already paid weeks before) on Roberts last visit AND again despite there being a note on the file the day we collected his ashes. It's a shame as the vets were great but this was unacceptable and shoddy systems.

Sadly I can’t speak highly of this practice (Didcot location) or Larkmead in general, it’s seems they are more concerned with their bottom line than providing good quality care. We took our dog to be seen, clearly with an ear infection, all of the typical symptoms. We were prescribed steroids to reduce the inflammation so the ear could be looked at (this was never going to happen) at the next visit. 5 days later, with no change (poor dog) back to the vets we go. Looks like at ear infection (still unable to take a look) finally antibiotics drops provided (even though they still can’t see the ear/diagnose indefinitely). If no improvement advised to go back for an anaesthetic and clean… also wants a return full up appointment to check if the “ear infection” has cleared up. Assuming we go back for a 3rd time this will be over £120 in consultation fees and around £15 of treatment products for an ear infection that could and should have been treated at the first appointment. This is the first time we have been to the vets excluding puppy check/ vaccination and I can’t speak highly of the care or service we have been provided. I have made a formal complaint, but no response as the individual that deals with complaints is on holiday.

Friendly staff, all the vets I've seen are very helpful and compassionate. Every time I've phone to make an appointment they've always managed to fit me in within the next 24hrs. Thank you for taking care of my hamsters!

I would just like to say how amazing Chris was with my little dachshund Ernie today. He really made me feel reassured and that I had left Ernie in safe hands. I couldn’t recommend enough!! Thank you Chris!
