   To say that the National gives you everything and more that you could want, would be an understatement. Two years ago we moved into the area, and as you do, tried the local pub. The food was delicious, the menu was full of a variety and choices. The staff were kind and welcoming. They don’t just stand behind the bar, they regularly clean tables. . Within a short time they knew our names and what we drank. We have eaten there most weeks, everything is as good as two years ago. Last year mum was 104. We chose the National for a family get together. We couldn’t believe what we saw when we walked in. Freshly pressed white table cloths, flowers in vases, wine glasses with white napkins. Happy birthday banners. When we sat down mum was given a glass of sherry, a little gift from the staff, her favourite tipple. She was treated like a queen. She loved the National, they sat her near a radiator to keep warm, always. She loved the warm cosy friendly atmosphere. The customers seem so comfortable that they all chatted with each other. Sadly we lost mum, but she had left instructions, she wanted her wake to be in the National. We walked in to an area next to a beautiful Christmas tree yesterday. We saw clean, pressed white table cloths, a cosy fire was lit. The buffet was exceptional. The staff took care of everything, they looked after us. Making sure that everything was as it should be. They brought tears to our eyes when they brought a glass of sherry, it was put on the mantelpiece as a sign of respect for a very special old lady. She was given an amazing send off. Thank you to all the staff for our warm friendly welcome, every time we come to the National. It is more than a pleasure for us.

   The pub always has something going on, different bands, artists and kids parties. I had the pleasure of donating some balloon stacks for a charity event they did during the summer and what a great total they raised as a pub. Great atmosphere and staff.

   The steak i ordered wasn't cooked to preference. They gladly replaced however when the plate returned the chips literally tasted like cardboard. Steak was nice. The waitress with red hair was friendly and apologetic

   Lovely local pub serving great food , plenty of choice on their menu . Service is good and staff are polite and cutious. Clean and friendly atmosphere with a large area for seating to spend quality time with family and friends. A good idea to pre book a table in your favorite spot.

   I'm from out of town and visited the National for dinner with my friends who live local. It was a Friday afternoon and was extremely busy. Staff however were friendly and on it I must say. The Chef brought our meals to the table as they were that busy which I thought was a nice touch. We even had sweets which again didn't take long. Great food and atmosphere. Definitely recommend the double hunters.
