    Disappointing experience at B&Q Purbrook , poor assistance at self-scan till I visited B&Q Purbrook 13/10/25 at 14:38 (paid) recently to make a purchase using my B&Q membership card. At the self-scanning till, the machine failed to scan my membership card. I asked for help from a staff member but she refused to assist me with resolving the issue. In the end, I had to pay without having the membership discount applied, because I was unable to get the card to scan and no help was forthcoming. This experience was extremely frustrating. As a loyal customer, I expect at least basic support when a system fails. It’s discouraging when staff decline to help with what should be a standard process β€” especially when it affects a customer’s entitlement to benefits (in my case, membership discount). If B&Q wants to maintain customer loyalty and reputation, staff should be encouraged and trained to help in such situations β€” particularly at self-service tills, where customers are more vulnerable to technical glitches. Refusing assistance just pushes customers to feel forced into paying more or abandoning the purchase entirely. I hope B&Q management at Purbrook address this internally β€” the staff should be reminded that helpfulness is part of the role, and customers should never feel pressured to pay more just because their membership card fails to scan.

    I placed an order through B&Q but it has not been delivered for the past 4 days. When the delivery vehicle first arrived, the driver claimed he couldn't enter the street and left without completing the delivery. The following day, I tried to coordinate a new delivery time with the driver, but he refused to help and hung up the phone. I contacted customer service, and they scheduled a new delivery appointment β€” I even received a confirmation message. However, no one showed up on the appointed day. When I contacted customer service again, instead of providing a proper solution, they pressured me to cancel the order. I clearly stated that I did not want to cancel and that the road in front of my shop is accessible until 10:00 AM, after 4:00 PM, or anytime on Sundays. Despite this, they failed to offer any alternative other than cancellation. This experience has caused me not only a significant loss of time but also a loss of business. Throughout the entire process, no effort was made to support or assist me as a customer. The handling of this situation has been extremely disappointing and unacceptable. This incident has severely damaged my trust in your brand. I request that appropriate action be taken, that my grievance be resolved, and that I receive an official response regarding this matter. Otherwise, I will be forced to escalate this issue through legal means, including the Consumer Arbitration Committee.

    Kayla at the paint mixing station was fantastic with our son today. She allowed him to press the buttons and do the scanning and he was fascinated by it all! What she didn't realise was that he had just moved home and was finding things a bit tough. Thank you for making his day and making things a bit more exciting for him! Brilliant customer service!

    Absolutely massive B&Q. Always got what you need and staff are always lovely. Despite it being dark, raining and cold..Ashton kindly offered to help me with heavy items I had bought into my car without asking him. Very grateful so thank you Ashton ! :)

    Always have what we need. Staff is very knowledgeable about all aspects of decorating. The burger van outside is amazing! Take your own drink, though, as a can of fizzy is Β£1.50!

    Big hardware store. Long opening hours. Helpful staff. Would avoid their own brand products (which are not labelled as B&Q but other various names) as they are poor quality compared to the big brands.
