Overpriced food made me feel like a mug. Almost £50 for 2 cheese burgers, a beer and a coke. £18 for a cheese burger! What a joke! I wouldn’t mind so much if it was a gourmet burger. But it little more than a mini canapé burger…! No salad, no sides, no sauces and 10 chips. (I counted them!) None of the serving staff checked in on us to see how we were. Might as well have gone to McDs for better value food and service. I like the pub and the atmosphere, but no wonder people aren’t spending on the high street when you are being ripped off like this. Make the prices more sensible and you will get more custom.

Had an amazing night at The Vaults in Southsea watching No Weddings. The band absolutely smashed it, tight, energetic, and full of presence. The pub was jumping all night, packed with a buzzing crowd and a brilliant atmosphere. The staff were great, really friendly and on the ball, and the other customers were just as welcoming. A proper Southsea gem. Can’t wait to come back!

This is a brilliant location to get together with friends and family! There are so many different areas and you can section off one of them if you want to have a private function including the little outdoor terrace. The staff were very polite and helpful and I have been to a lot of other bars which could learn something from the manners of the staff here. Massive respect to them. The only thing I would say as that we found the music to be very cheesy and not to the taste of anyone in our group and the venue got a little noisy at times with the post football crowd and then a table who were loudly and drunkenly singing along to the music but the venue is quite large so we managed to move ourselves to another more tucked away large table. We ate pizza there and it was great quality pizza although with not a lot of topping so I wouldn't make a beeline to go there for the food. It was ok as a pre-drink stomach liner. We were able to put the birthday cake we brought with us in the fridge in the kitchen which was great but when we came to cut the cake there were no plates or forks available because of a private function onsite which was a shame. However plastic boxes were kindly provided for us to box up the leftovers. It is unclear if it is possible to hire the venue and have a DJ there. They do have a disabled toilet. There is also craft beer available there. The bottle of presecco we had there was ok. I took the photos towards the back end of the evening when most people had gone.

Booked the function room for our engagement party- Absolutely amazing space had the private bar, function room and the roof terrace! Gorgeous area that we were allowed to decorate and the food was amazing, had constant compliments throughout the night from our guests. Staff were amazing at the bar and those roaming around, special thanks to Luke for helping us arrange it all and thanks to the bar staff, waiters and kitchen staff for providing us an amazing night. A great pub with a good atmosphere, it's always bustling on the weekends and they regularly host live performances. Great selection of beer, and spirits available, but be prepared to pay a little extra. If you want to escape student bars, or local rowdy pubs this could be the place for you.

We recently had our engagement party at the newly refurbished wine vaults in Southsea. The staff were amazing everyone had a great time but the highlight and what people didn’t stop raving about was the food. We paid per head for a buffet and it was worth every penny. The range of food and my last minute vegan option request was all great. Would really recommend for a venue for a celebration.

Another local of mine. It has had a fresh lick of paint and some fancy cushions/seats. Outside seating is better. Be prepared to wait ages to get served except at the cask/real ale bar. More reasonably priced alternatives nearby. Not the vibe it had during my 25 years frequenting.

The interior decor was beautiful and I thought I was in for a lovely experience. Unfortunately, I would be left disappointed. The server may have been new as he wasn't sure what was on tap. He said there was no cauliflower cheese because "The chef's been a bit off today" which was a strange and off-putting comment. The pub was short staffed for a Sunday lunch slot which meant a lot of waiting (about 15 minutes for drinks to arrive.) We heard several other tables around asking where their drinks were. When the food arrived, my burger was palatable but nothing to celebrate, and certainly not worth £13.95. Overall I found the food overpriced and underwhelming.

Amazing job done in refurbishing the Vaults over the past weeks. Staff were lovely, and gave us a tour. Food was excellent.
