    My son and daughter have been attending the karate classes for over six months now. Just a few days ago they both achieved their orange belts which made me very proud. They already had their yellow belts and sensei Paula planned an extra training session last Friday to get all the kids prepared for the gradings the next day. Under Paula’s careful guidance the children are very confident and assured in all the karate basics, the kata’s and sparring. I have sat and watched from the back of the hall since the beginning and it always amazes me how patient and positive Sensei Paula is with each kid as they learn differently. Every session is different and the kids really enjoy it. The standards the kids are achieving so quickly is quite remarkable. It’s very affordable as well and Paula goes out of her way to get to know all the parents as well. I had practiced karate myself for several years so can recognise not just a good teacher but a great teacher. Paula is a great teacher and quite gifted to be able to impart her wisdom, especially to children. If you fancy your kids learning modern Goju Ryu karate in a fun and safe environment I’d thoroughly recommend the Monday weekly classes at Astbury Village Hall in Congleton. The same classes are also run in Sandbach on a Wednesday at 4pm.

    Cheshire Karate Academy is fantastic! Sensei Paula runs the classes at the Astbury location where my my son has started training. She has been brilliant, mixing both the traditional aspects of the martial art while keeping it fun for the younger ones. I have been really impressed with the way my son has come on over the weeks, passing his first grading after around 4 months. They follow one of the main forms, Goju Ryu Karate, recognised by the world federation. The fees are incredibly reasonable and with the lesson bundles is really good value for money. There was a free trial too which was great to get an introduction to it. The village hall location is great too, plenty of free parking, very clean facilities. As a parent there is seating available in the hall to watch the lesson. Highly recommended!
