We have been using SpeedyMech for a number of years now and have always found them honest and reliable. Prices comparable compared to others but with service and workmanship very high.
We took our car to this garage for a straightforward MOT and we wish we had not, our car had been driven some 40 miles to where we do not know, the. Expected bill was £50 as per the govt price policy for an MOT we were charged over £100 when asking why we were told that a high number of bulbs had stopped working and were replace, the tyre pressures were checked and the windscreen washer bottle had been topped up, ALL a pack of lies both my husband and I double checked the car over the day before and everything, everything worked correctly. Our finding of this garage Speedymech is one of ripping people off and telling lies we will definitely NOT be returning and we strongly urge you to go elsewhere before you are ripped off too.
I recently had a very disappointing experience with this garage and feel need to share it to help others avoid the same frustration. Initially, I brought my car in for a service. However, when I got it back, i found an oil leak, which has never been an issue before. I reported this to the garage, but my concerns were ignored. They diagnosed my car with a faulty gearbox. Trusting their expertise, I followed their recommendation to use a gearbox refurbishing company that Richard suggested. The refurbishing company later informed me that the gearbox didn’t show significant wear to justify the issues described. Despite this, I ended up paying £500 for the gearbox repair to replace the bearings as it has been pulled apart. On top of that, I was charged an additional £500 to have the gearbox reinstalled and a new clutch fitted—something that wasn’t necessary. I reached out to the garage via email to discuss this issue and received a single response over a month ago. Despite sending a polite follow-up, I have yet to hear back. As a young woman, I feel completely taken advantage of and ripped off. It’s clear to me that the new management lacks the necessary skills and integrity to run the business properly. I would strongly advise others, especially young women, to avoid this garage if they want a fair and honest service. Save yourself the headache and take your car elsewhere.

By far the best garage I’ve ever gone to. The staff are always very friendly and explain issues in an easy to understand way. They're also extremely genuine and trustworthy. Andy (the owner) is the nicest mechanic I’ve ever come across and I wouldn’t go anywhere else for my MOT/ repairs.
