Katy provided the time and care needed for a new customer. She was warm and friendly and took an interest in hair care. She advised me of good hair care products, one of which I have bought already! It’s the second time I have had my hair cut by her and she is fantastic!! Thank you and I’ll see you in March. I highly recommend this hairdresser.

I have had almost no good experiences with getting my haircut but going to Tony Wood completely changed that. I’m autistic and non-binary so I am always incredibly nervous about big changes and safety particularly with my hair but the salon and staff were so welcoming, and I felt really listened to during the whole process. My stylist was kind, polite, and respected all of my ideas while helping me feel comfortable with how my hair was going to look as well as throughout the experience itself. I felt calm and relaxed and having had the chance to settle into my new hair (we cut quite a bit off), for the first time pretty much ever, I’m so happy with my haircut and finished look. The people, the atmosphere, and the experience was so reassuring and I’m really grateful.
Absolutely the Best Haircut I’ve Ever Had! This salon is genuinely brilliant — always welcoming, warm, and professional. But most importantly, they are exceptional at cutting hair. I have naturally curly hair and, for years, never felt truly happy with it. In fact, I wore it up in a bun for nearly a decade because I couldn’t find anyone who knew how to cut and style it properly. That changed the moment I came here. Thanks to Laura (especially!) — and honestly every stylist I’ve seen here — I finally love my hair. I wear it down all the time now and regularly get compliments on the style. They understand how to cut and layer curly hair without it turning into a triangle or losing its shape. Even if I moved out of Portsmouth, I’d happily travel back here. It’s the only place that’s ever made me feel confident in my curls. Highly recommend!
For over twelve years, I’ve been going to Tony Wood Hairdressers, and in all that time, Liam has been my stylist. He is simply the best. Not only is he incredibly talented, but he’s also become a dear friend—someone I trust completely. There have been times when I’ve walked in feeling down and looking a mess, and without fail, I leave feeling fantastic. Liam always knows how to bring out the best in me. The salon itself is a beautiful, quirky building with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The entire team is brilliant—every stylist is highly skilled and professional. It’s a place where you feel instantly at ease. Sophie, the receptionist, is absolutely lovely. She always greets you with a smile and goes out of her way to be helpful. Had a really nice stylist that worked all day on my colour even when it went wrong after the first dye but that led to not really getting a haircut (just managed to fit in a trim, which was slightly underwhelming) as she had another client waiting near the end of the day. I also noticed my new top had bleach all over the back, not sure how as I only moved from the chair to the sink but that’s something I’ll remember for next time. Overall, I don’t think the £200 was worth it as a service but I would say the staff are lovely and welcoming.
Came to TW Hairdressing yesterday, for the first time. Great experience, everyone was so lovely and very attentive, offering a drink throughout the time I was there too. Pheobe did a full set of highlights, toner and trim. She did such a great job, my hair looks so good, couldn't be happier!
I went here because I had a bad experience elsewhere where my hair was breaking off and falling out ,after speaking with Liam and Amy I booked in to sort it . Amy was so lovely and professional she listened to me, made suggestions and really made me feel comfortable. I decided to go short and Amy did a fantastic cut on my hair . It's taking a bit of getting used to but everyone likes it and I do too .Will definitely be sticking to this salon from now on , thank you all so much .

Bought my daughter here to get her hair done before a family wedding. Phoebe was friendly and listened to what my daughter wanted. Looked at photos, and suggested ideas. Very professional and my daughter was very happy. Would recommend.
