I'm on a quest to find the best roast in the East Riding and this is right up there. The food is superb. BIG portions, BIG Yorkies, gallons of gravy, what's not to like? I usually have the mixed meats and there was no skimping here. Everything was cooked brilliantly. I almost had a starter and glad I didn't when the roast arrived because there is no way I would have had room for pudding. I had the Hawkstone Lager, but there was plenty of other choices on offer. Tucked away on the canal in Tickton, it's a lovely spot to visit.

Just got to say that the steak and ale pie was the best I've ever tasted. The service from the young man behind the bar was brilliant too.

I was driving on my way to Hornsea, a long drive from South Lincs, with my girlfriend, and happened to see this pub nestled beside a river, so I took a right turn, parked up and we walked inside to be greeted by one of the friendly bar staff. We both had fish (whale) and chips with minted mushy peas. Delicious would be an understatement and the beer and aperitif were great. As we left, my girlfriend went to the ladies and I to my car. As she got back in she said, "That's the best pub loo I've ever visited! It had all manner of women's sanitary products, facial wipes, and q-tips. She even went back and shot a video for Tiktok. We're so glad we spotted this gem of a pub - highly recommended!!

This is now our new favourite place to eat. Without a doubt the BEST pie I’ve ever had and the tastiest fish and chips in town!! The pie is full to the brim with delicious shredded beef with no fat/gristle at all, the chips actually taste of potatoes and the batter on that (huge) fish was light and crispy without being greasy - better than any of the top end fish and chip shops in town! Sat next to the canal and enjoyed the good weather. Will definitely be back soon :) very dog friendly too

Popped in last week for lunch. Staff were very polite and friendly. My daughter inlaw and myself had the steak pie which was absolutely delicious ! My son had the burger and really enjoyed it. Would highly recommend . Can't wait for our next visit

Beer was spot-on and the staff were excellent at greeting and acknowledging all customers entering the pub/restaurant. They were a credit to the company, moreso than in many other establishments. Perhaps next time we will book for a Sunday meal.

We have visited a few times now as we have recently moved to tickton. Always made to feel very welcome by the staff and the food is superb great atmosphere and lovely surroundings great selection of drinks would highly recommend the Chardonnay best we have had in a long while, this is becoming our favourite place.

Great spot to rest after a walk or ride around the area. Good beer selection. My pale ale was perfect. 100%. The publican should ask East Rising to put sound barriers on the bridge. They needn't be obtrusive and would cost pence to install.

Very welcoming, nice looking place and pleasant location. Unfortunately the food on this occasion was poor. The pate was very very bland, both myself and my wife ordered it and it definitely lacked flavour. We ordered Salmon for main. Now admittedly i am always very keen with salmon on how its cooked. The skin was crispy as it should be but it was definitely overcooked by a couple of minutes. It should be just cooked in the centre, not the same colour it is on the outside! It was dry also. However, the biggest failure were the leeks. They hadnt been prepared properly, 3 mouthfuls in resulted in 3 times eating grit! Obviously on this basis, i wouldn't recommend eating here.
