Staff work incredibly hard, especially behind the scenes. My mum couldn't get an appointment at ger local surgery, so we came to somerstown, and they were incredibly kind, helpful, and couldn't do enough for us which was a relief as my mum hadnt long been discharged from hospital and we were a little lost. The nhs is struggling at the moment (as highly reported on in the media), and that isn't the fault of the staff - they do as much as they can with what they have - an underfunded service.

My husband had a health check. Waiting room was dirty we really should walk away, that was my first impression, unfortunately our GP had no appointment available and sent us here. Next day after my husband had a blood test done his arm started becoming black and swollen. Two days later his arm and leg started be painful and he couldn't touch his arm. I called 111 and been told we need to go to QA as it was suspected a blood clot. After visit he was diagnosed with damage nerve and we have been told that recovery can takes up to 6-8 weeks. Shocking experience for person who was going for a health check. We never go back there again Avoid !!!

Terrible, would give it no stars. A day after Angela Eagle said in parliament that there’s no discrimination in the NHS I’m a victim of it. Signed in for my 8.05am appointment early, said 1 in front of me. Sat down in waiting room and nothing. People arriving after me had problems signing in so had to see the receptionist, they were told something and would be fitted in (both seen within a few mins). Around 8.25 I had to go so went to make another appointment only to be told my nurse was off sick and a new appointment was made. If they could fit in POC who’s appointments were after mine why did they just leave me in the waiting room and not fit me in before them. Racism. Will be putting in a complaint. Re booked the first appointment in the day for next time so will see how they discriminate again and will look for another surgery. Avoid the Portsdown Group

Can rarely get through on the phone. It's so difficult to get an appointment. Even if you walk in they won't give you one. Worst sugery i have experienced. They don't listen either. My partner doesn't do phone consultations as he has a hearing condition and and he has told them but they persist in offering phone appoinments.

I wish there was a score less than 1 star. I had a horrible experience with a nurse who was so rude, impatient and dismissive during my annual diabetic check appointment. Imagine acting like she was under so much stress at 11am in the morning! She told me in a dismissive attitude that I had to wait till next year April to have a blood sugar test (this was in October 2021), despite this being my annual diabetic test, claiming I had a test some months ago at QA hospital. When I asked her the result of the test and what it meant for my annual diabetic check and the implication for my care plan, she rudely told me to write to QA for the result. I tried to tell her that QA had told me to find out my results from my GP, but she wasn’t listening. There was no doctor or manager at the surgery that I could speak to and was left more distressed than when I first came in. It’s impossible to get an appointment or even a call back from the doctor through the triage. I would not recommend this surgery to anyone. Needless to say, I changed to another surgery.

Wish i could rate 0 for being completely uncaring towards my mental health, saying they would call back for follow up appointments when they never did. Saying they've done repeat prescriptions when they haven't. Overall putting me at more risk by just not being available at all and telling me to call back days after days in a row. Either my call isn't urgent enough for an appointment, or it's too urgent for a routine appointment. Horrible service

Portsdown Group ensure they make it as hard as possible to do anything. You have to ring at certain times to get an appointment which could take weeks until you are successful and then its only a telephone appointment. When trying to obtain a sick note you have to login online at 18:30 to complete a form or as they said 18:28 and keep freshing to then be unsuccessful and have to try again tomorrow. Not once have I been successful in completing the form. They must only have a couple of e consults available for a city of thousands. The surgeries are empty with not a single GP in sight. I had a blood test and checked in at reception to be told I had to use the self check in. She didn't want to engage with me. It does seem no one wants to see you at Portsdown Group and I always feel I'm an 'inconvenience' when I call.

Hi, Just wanted to share a positive experience with the Somerstown Health Centre today, spoke to a lovely receptionist who was really helpful and answered all my queries. Sorry I didn't get your name but thank you. :)

Can’t get appointments for love nor money! You have to ring at exactly ten am everyday to stand any chance! And usually guess what? It’s then engaged and you can’t get through! My 11 year old is suffering serious mental health issues and can’t get help because of this! What a joke!!
