Last night we had booked a table for six people. It was to celebrate my brother-in-laws 80th birthday. It had been booked for several weeks and the hotel were made aware of the occasion. We arrived on time and were surprised that the young lady on the bar knew nothing about it. She looked amazed when I said it was booked. She immediately checked the diary and acknowledged our reservation. She set about preparing a table and apologised for the delay. We had a reasonable meal and the service was pretty good. I was slightly disappointed when I went to pay for the meal there was no further apology and no gesture in terms of a discounted bottle of wine; we had ordered four bottles, although we did take a bottle home with us. We spent virtually £250. I decided a tip was not appropriate. With a little more effort, the hotel could have turned a rather disappointing evening into a memorable one.

The staff are friendly and personable. The hotel has deteriorated over the years. There's a smell of damp and creaking floorboards under the carpets. The fittings are pulling away from the walls. The taps & shower heads aren't secure and leak. But the hot water temperature is good and pressure reasonable. The radiators have long lost their previous coating finish and produce lacklustre heat in unexplained timing. The inter room walls are paper thin. One can hear the next room occupants snoring and drunken guests encouraging their dogs to bark. Needless to say I won't be back. That said the location allows easy walking access to Fareham centre and the Resident chef produces the best poached eggs on record.

We were in a room right by the roundabout and it was very noisy. No double glazing so wind blew through and sounded like window was open. Tea in room tasted awful, couldn't drink it. Breakfast was good but wasn't offered toast. Key card was also troublesome on both rooms.

A little dated but clean and tidy rooms. Friendly staff and a great breakfast. The only issue was our nights sleep was hugely disturbed by the constant on off of a compresser for a freezer which made a loud noise when turning off and on, let alone when it was running.

I went for afternoon tea booking here last week meeting an old friend visiting the area so to catch up on years of gossip !! Was seated at a window table already laid up with crisp white linen but absolutely sweltering in the sun streaming through the window. Looking around the restaurant which was totally empty no other tables were even laid up so we decided not to to cause an issue by asking to be moved out of the sun. We were offered a selection fresh finger sandwiches of which each person has a choice of two fillings and of course the obligatory scones with clotted cream plus a selection of cakes. Unfortunately these dried out very quickly in the streaming sun as we nattered the afternoon away but they did have a good size of tasty, fresh fillings. You can also choose from a variety of teas, coffees or hot chocolate but we were only offered tea or coffee, but then on asking for a latte and a cappuccino I was told the cofee machine was faulty but my server did offer to me to make an instant coffee clearly embaressed she jokingly said i'll try but i'm not very good at it ! We didn’t even realise about the hot chocolate until we heard later arriving guests ask for it. The drinks are also unlimited which wasn’t made clear. The venue is generally tired and in definite need of some TLC but I would go back though. My server was very attentive and friendly.

We chose The Roundabout Hotel as the venue for my father's wake. The restaurant area is intimate and relaxed making the perfect setting for our family and friends to gather and share our memories. The staff could not have been more helpful, with such compassion for our circumstances. The buffet was delicious, plentiful and fantastic value for money. Thank you

This review is for the restaurant and staff and especially the chefs! I eat out a lot and I am always blown away by the service , the choice, the quality of the food and the exceptional homemade dishes that makes this restaurant my top choice in the whole of Gosport and Fareham! I give a thumbs up to the chefs when I exit as they deserve it. Could eat here every night if I could afford it. I’ve had all vegetarian choices on the menu and my partner all the meat and no complaints about any of them. Keep up the good work, we will be back again and again with friends and family. What a relief to have you up the road.

The room was not spacious but clean and comfortable, ideal for a few days away. The food was excellent with lots of choice and the staff were very friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble for them. The hotel is only a 25 minute walk away from the station very handy for going into Portsmouth for example. The only suggestion that my Wife and I would make is that it would be good to have a choice of fruit on the breakfast menu. We will be making a return visit in the future.

Very reasonable hotel for the price, staff were great, room was comfortable and breakfast was good. Be warned, if you were going to treat yourself, significant other, or just buy one out of your inquisitiveness, there's a machine in the men's toilet by the bar that sells vibrators (for 5 X £1), it stole our money. That vibrator could have bumped the review up to 4 stars...

Escaped the chaos of a new boiler installation by booking a room here which was dog friendly. Had asked beforehand if they would accept 3 small dogs which they said they would but at £5 extra. When checked in it was £5 per dog which wasn't an issue but it should have been made clearer. The room was 'functional' but had scaffolding all over the window which wasn't mentioned, right next to the massive kitchen extractor tube so ok if you liked the smell of chips etc all day. Building work going on all day on the property behind which isn't the fault of this hotel but very noisy. The staff were lovely and so helpful, probably a bit understaffed as despite the description no room service and breakfast service hours reduced but very friendly. The breakfast was good quality and included in the room rate. No problem with parking either which was a relief.
