Got us a lovely Yorkshire called Teena from there last week she is absolutely gorgeous. I really recommend this place. Going back to there open day on 20/9/25
My dog was taken in overnight by the dog warden after she ran away ( which happened for the first time in 6 years ) and when I went to collect her I was treated with shocking rudeness by the “ boss”Julie or whatever her name is. I swear I have never been spoken like this before in my life. I had been given different information by various people before coming to that place, so I just wanted clarification, but instead of explaining, Julie spoke to me extremely rudely, as if I was some kind of idiot who “chooses not to understand” what’s going on and what she was saying. This was already an upsetting and stressful experience worrying about my dog and just wanting to bring her home safely and yet I was spoken to with complete DISRESPECT. To make matters worse, you are not even allowed to see YOUR dog until you pay, and payment is cash only, with no other option accepted. This felt completely unprofessional and very unfair to pet owners in such a stressful moment. Pet owners, hopefully you will never be in a situation where you have to go to a dog warden but things happened as we know, just be aware if you ever have to deal with the “boss” Julie.
I've known the Appledowner's for close to 20 years now. All of my rescue dogs have come from this kennel and I've had three dogs over this time . The staff know their stuff and know dogs. If you are looking for a fur baby to call your own, give them a call. They have many dogs that need a sofa. Just remember to let the staff advise you on what dog will fit your lifestyle. Do not go there with a vision of what dog you think you want. The staff know the personalities of the dogs and knows what will and won't work for you ;-)
Not happy with this boarding kennels we took our dog for boarding he went in healthy no problems then we picked him up and brought him home he has picked up a skin rash from the kennels and we now have a lot of vet appointments. Not a happy bunny
DO NOT ALLOW YOUR DOGS TO THIS KENNEL. I visited this kennel with a view to board my dogs and was shocked at the conditions I witnessed. The kennels are situated in a barn which is bolted and padlock whilst the dogs are inside so not sure how the dogs are accessed quickly in an emergency. As the person showing me around removed the padlock and unbolted the door I was hit with the most awful smell. So bad it stuck with me the rest of the day. It was pitch black and dirty. There was one Rottweiler in the kennel in the dark which did not appear to have any bedding or water. The dog looked scared. There was a very narrow walkway through the kennels which took you to about 6 slightly larger kennels which did have daylight. About 4 of the kennels were occupied with about 2 or 3 dogs who were constantly barking and very unsettled. I heard them barking as soon as I entered the car park and they were still barking when I left. I again couldn’t see any water or bedding in the kennel for these dogs. Apparently these kennels were ‘runs’. As I left the person bolted the door again. I urge you never to allow your dogs to stay here as I feel your dog will leave traumatised and possibly unwell. The conditions are unsanitary.
Went for the Fair in 2022. Wonderful day and very busy. Dog judging and ring was well organised and attended. Great atmosphere. Volunteers do a great job sorting things. The cakes and drinks stand folk are lovely too. And nothing is too expensive. Lovely old charm of a place not bougie and overpriced. Raffle, tombola etc.
