A truly wonderful area to wander through. The pride everyone takes in the properties is great and it’s a really unique area. You need to be conscious you’re wandering through a residential area but it’s a highlight for me in this part of the city and one of the most quaint things I’ve seen.

It's an incredibly quaint residential are in the former fisherman's village. Fun to walk thru but remember that people live here! The beach esplanade was fun too!

Such an interesting area to visit. Defintiely a place to see. Be mindful of the residents though. They are friendly to visitors, just stay out of their yards!! Highly recommend visiting and understanding the history.

Footdee — or “Fittie” as the locals call it — is one of the most charming and peaceful places I’ve visited in Aberdeen. It’s a small, historic fishing village tucked right next to the harbour and beach, but once you step into it, it feels like a different world entirely. The cottages are laid out in neat squares facing inward, creating a sheltered, almost secret atmosphere. It’s quiet, beautiful, and full of character. What makes Fittie really special is all the little details. Each house has its own unique touches, and the small sheds and outhouses are decorated with colourful paint, fishing gear, buoys, driftwood, and quirky ornaments. It’s like walking through an open-air gallery of seaside creativity. You can tell the people here take great pride in their homes and their history. It’s a lovely spot for a peaceful stroll, and although it’s only a short walk from the city centre, it feels like a hidden gem. The nearby beach is perfect for relaxing, and if you’re lucky, you might even catch sight of ships coming in or seals near the harbour. I’d highly recommend a visit to anyone coming to Aberdeen — it’s a quiet treasure full of charm and history.
