Since the opening of Ravelin Sports Centre, I have enjoyed every minute working out in the gym on a daily basis. The staff are always very helpful if I have a question or two. The facilities are up there with the best in country and beyond winning accolades over the years. Well done to the staff for always being helpful and knowledgeable in their specific areas of expertise in a wide range of sports. Keep up the good work. Thanks

The gym is overcrowded because you keep adding new memberships without expanding space or equipment. Either limit new sign-ups or increase capacity otherwise members can’t actually use what they’re paying for. 48 pounds straight into the drains.

The gym itself is fine but the showers are appalling. Freezing cold in the morning, despite multiple complaints from multiple users for months and constant gaslighting being told to complain via various methods, none of which have resulted in any resolution beyond "we are aware there is an issue". £50 a month to go to work after a freezing cold shower is not ok.

I purchased the Ultimate Membership at this club because it was advertised as including gym, climbing, and other activities. However, when I tried to book climbing, I was told I had to pay an extra £7 induction fee. This was never mentioned when I bought the package. I already have climbing experience, yet they insisted I pay this additional charge, saying it was “for safety.” While I understand safety is important, this fee should have been clearly stated upfront, not hidden after purchase. The membership feels misleading because it is sold as “all-included,” but you still get surprise extra costs. Very disappointing customer experience.

An impressive, modern sports centre. We went for a lane swim as the centre is open to the public. Had to register in order to book online, but not too much of a problem. Paid parking underneath the building (pay on exit - use the machine as no mobile coverage down there). The basement houses a climbing wall and ski simulator. Ground floor has the gym, which looked to be very popular, a huge reception area with a Starbucks, and the 25m pool. Had to book in at reception to get a slip of paper to scan in to the pool changing facilities (remember to save it as you'll need it to scan out too). Changing facilities were clean with free lockers and warm showers. Pool is wide and has moveable floor - half being given over to aqua aerobics when we were there. The lanes are a uniform 2m depth, so no lounging around at the shallow end. Pool was clean and lifeguards were attentive. Would definitely visit again.

Fantastic staff. Service always great and friendly. I love the pool. I joined on the first day they opened and have been using it regularly. It’s exactly what the area needs. It’s great they have different events for different ages. I take my daughter every Friday to parent /toddler swim sessions.

Fantastic facilities, son attending swimming lessons, quality teaching with great in water staff ratios. Special mention to Madeline, so supportive and helpful. Have not used any of the other facilities but it looks great. Lots of classes and a great climbing wall. Bonus is a coffee shop (chain sadly not independent)

Amazing gym for the price, people are complaining about the booking but I think it’s necessary and a good addition that I was hoping to see as it prevents getting overfilled. If you want a less busy gym then you just have to go at off peak times and this goes for any popular gym especially as it’s only just opened. Every time I’ve gone I haven’t had to queue at all for machines and there’s always loads of room in the changing rooms. Facilities are 10/10 overall. If you’re willing to wake up early or research which is the best time to go and only go those times, then you will have no problems. One thing I’d like to see is a few sanitary wipe dispensers with bins, that’s what my old gym had and it worked really well and everyone cleaned their equipment so it felt a lot nicer and safer.

First few weeks of using this gym has been interesting . Firstly member of staff said my bag had to be put in the locker, seems like an odd rule. Every gym I’ve been to has been happy with me taking my bag in. I don’t want to juggle a belt, wrist straps, water bottle, phone, AirPods. Secondly my time spent at the gym is increased 25% due to having to queue for the machines. Third and finally, to top things off, I now have to BOOK a time slot to even access the gym (upon using the booking system, it does seem simple to use and isn’t constantly booked up like I thought it would be).

I signed up for the swimming pool and sports classes. Have not tried the classes yet so this is more of a pool review. The price is really good, especially for students only £15 for the choice of two activities. The gym is located in a nice area next to a park. Nice, big, open reception with a starbucks and comfy seats. Changing rooms/shower (pool area) These facilties are unisex (they are separate gendered changing rooms for schools). The changing and shower rooms are big, there is seating were you change and everything was very clean (so far). The showers are on a timer, you put it on and it stops every minute or so but you can press it as many times as you want. There are storage closets with digital locks to store your stuff. The type of lock they have here is the easiest to use and most straightforward type of gym lock I have seen. All very smooth. They also have toilets, mirrors, many hairdryers, a water bottle refill station and two saunas. Pool The pool itself is beautiful. The area is well lit with big windows on the sides and ceilings. One thing that I have enjoyed the most is that you can entre the pool via stairs and don't need to use the ladders. This is perfect for people with disabilities or less fit people. Half of the pool was divided in lanes and half was left as an open space which I really appreciated. The water temperature was perfect, did not feel cold at all. The depth of the pool can be changed, it was 1.40 m the time I have been. Pool and pool area were very clean. My only complaint is the employees, both the receptionist and the lifeguards were a bit rude when I talked to them. But I'm not going to deduct points for this yet. If all runs smoothly you don't need much contact with the staff. All in all I highly recommend it for the moment, especially this September as only students and staff are allowed. I sense that once it is open many issues will appear.
