Though small in size, this garden feels like a piece of heaven tucked away by the sea. It’s the perfect spot to pause, relax, and reflect—whether you’re meditating, reading, or simply taking in the quiet beauty around you. What makes it truly special is its clever design: even with the strong coastal winds just outside, the garden offers a calm, sheltered space where you can still enjoy the fresh sea air. The variety of plants, trees, and bushes are arranged in a way that feels both natural and artistic. At the heart of the garden lies a charming little pond, home to small fish and a gentle fountain that adds to the sense of tranquility. If you’re ever in the Southsea area of Portsmouth, don’t miss this spot. It’s a peaceful retreat that offers something rare—a moment to simply be.
Absolutely stunning well kept gardens and hedges. Pathways are very clean and free of litter. A lovely place to come and have your lunch or picnic with family or friends.
This a great space and the care and attention that must go into the maintenance and upkeep is a credit to all involved. A variety of plants and flowers and various paths make for fun for the kids and a place of relaxation for all. Koi carp to a resident turtle that can often be seen lapping up the sun on a rock at the bottom of the waterfall. Well worth a visit and get some head space
Hidden gem of a garden with landscaped rockeries, plenty of attractive flowers and a cascade. Pleasantly quiet when I visited in the early evening, and only a short walk from the beach. Benches situated around the gardens so you can sit and enjoy the surroundings for a while.
Beautiful small garden. Very relaxing. There are some spots where you can take a seat and enjoy the view. Can be crowded on a weekend.
Years ago this place used to be full of flowers and plant life. It was well maintained and had sprinklers on in the summer to keep everything watered. Now the place still looks ok but it can be so much better, like it used to be. I really enjoy this place. It's a small tranquil haven you can visit anytime you want to have a bit of peace and quiet. The water features are nice but as I mentioned, need maintenance. It's worth visiting as you walk along Southsea beach.
I discovered the Rock Gardens on a busy day at the beach and what a lovely, peaceful place it is. Well maintained, with a wide variety of plants and absolutely stunning in full bloom. The uneven pathways and steps could be a challenge for the elderly and disabled but there are hand rails and level areas where the gardens can be viewed with ease. Will visit again for sure.
Loving the Garden's,it doesn't matter how many times that I go there, they seem to cheer me up,no end's, also I've got a new App, it's what I've been looking for, take a picture of a tree or the Bark, flowers weed's shurbs, anything that grows, well most thing's green lol, so if I'm feeling down i pop around there, headphones on and i will spend hours there,eveytime i go i seem to find a new plant maybe a weed, it's beautiful there,we are very lucky to have those gardens and the hard work they put in to make it look like a secret garden.
Very nice and clean place. You can go there for free and it'a amazing what you get there. Everything is beautiful and very clean, there are plenty of benches where you can sit and relax, it has its own "fountain" or "mini lake". It has even many types of fishes swimming in that. Definitely worth to come and take a long look at everything. Great place to eat lunch in silent.
