I wish the review prowess would allow me to rate 4.7 that is what I would say fabulous food and service we visited on a quiet night in the restaurant which of course hurts the Atmosphere. We also had breakfast the following day which was fabulous too Highly recommended

I booked this reservation for my wife’s 50th birthday and our 20th wedding anniversary. We had been married at the Moat house and returned especially. Sadly, we made a note of this on our reservation but no mention was made of it. Upon arrival our table wasn’t ready and our coats weren’t taken. Once seated the waiter took a drinks order from me and my wife but forgot our two children. The starters were nice but they forgot part of our dish which they brought out half way through after we had highlighted the mistake. The service was generally poor, they were very inexperienced and very stretched. They never asked us how our food was and whether we needed any condiments. For one of our mains we asked for fries not chips and yet it arrived with chips. I asked for the wine menu and was then left waiting to order wine. I eventually received wine half way through my main meal. The atmosphere was akin to a ‘works canteen’ with no atmosphere and some awful music playing. We asked for our bill and received it and then waited for 10mins to pay before putting our coats on and walking over to the till to pay. At over £220 for a meal I think I’m allowed to expect more?? The whole of this special day had been a lot of fun for us, it’s just a massive shame that the Moat house couldn’t provide anything like the experience we were hoping to have as the finale. A massive let down to say the least.

The Moat house is such an impressive hotel and set in gorgeous surroundings. It is easy to find and located just off junction 13 of the M6 motorway. My Afternoon Tea was a gift from my husband. The Orangery is beautiful and situated next to the canal and surrounding countryside. There was a wedding and party on at the hotel, so staff were limited in the restaurant. Plus, there wasn't much of an atmosphere due to it not being very full. The staff were polite and very friendly. You could have a choice of which variety of tea or coffee you have, which is great. The selection of sandwiches and cakes were impressive. However, personally, I would prefer more savoury than sweet, plus a friut scone instead of a plain. Having said that, it was lovely, well presented and you were asked if you would like further sandwiches. I would definately recommend The Moat House and will return again.

I booked the restaurant for two nights, for business dinners after a tradeshow. The restaurant and service was excellent. Great menu, everyone in our party of nine was happy. The team were very helpful and professional. The Tuesday night grill night deal was excellent value. We’ll be back next year again!

My wife and I have eaten here many times and have never felt let down. The Hotel itself is excellent in a beautiful setting. We had our wedding reception there and cannot praise them enough.

Very enjoyable evening. Dog friendly, in fact when we arrived our pre-booked table had a dog bowl next to it. Dropped one star as wine glass had lipstick around edge, although the staff quickly changed it. All staff that served us were friendly and efficient. Food was very good.

Very nice indeed, been a few times before all for afternoon tea, they offer a choice of traditional or a gentleman's which is more to my savoury tastes

Had afternoon tea in the Orangery for my Birthday recently. Staff: Friendly, attentive, professional & well presented Speed of service: good Food: pretty average for the cost Meat free options: Yes Allergy accommodation: good (but need to phone in advance) Willingness to adapt menu: good Portion sizes: average (brought more sandwiches out also) Food presentation: standard nothing exceptional Cutlery: average Crockery: initially had quite standard small hotel mug & saucer that was a little disappointing, but mine was replaced with a more sophisticated set when I changed had a 2nd different tea and asked to change teacup. Glasses: standard at table, nicer one brought with my partners drink (purchased at extra cost as wasn't on afternoon tea manu) Drinks: the two teas I tried were of good standard Interior:beautifully bright room, full of natural light...they do have a separate restaurant & bar that isn't lit so well but has a cosy vibe Cleanliness: clean Table decor: quaint natural flowers Busy or not: reasonably for a Friday afternoon Outdoor space: river to look over with lots of greenery & some trees Lavatory: good standards & spacious Parking: plenty, but most a couple of minutes walk away (see photos attached)
