“Absolute delightful experience. This place has good seating arrangements, which can accommodate more ppl hence the wait time is reasonable. Staffs are polite and friendly, serving is pretty fast. As always they served delicious food, chickpea burger with spicy chips is my favourite. This place is slightly near to the parking lot and next to the quay side mall.”

“The Black Friar has been amazing to work with for our friendship group's annual Christmas lunch. They made the entire booking process extremely easy, with all the T&Cs clearly outlined from the start. On the day we were looked after by Jess, who was incredible, very quick to respond to any issues raised, never kept anyone waiting, so accommodating with our various quirks (like pictures), and was easy to reach when needed without making it seem like hovering. And always with a smile, of course. Truly, truly a standout member of the team deserving of all the praise. The food at the Black Friar was also divine, incredibly generous portions (that I admit, have bested me) and every bite was a pleasure for all the senses. Our whole group was very happy with the afternoon we got to spend there and we will definitely be looking into coming back for next year's annual Christmas lunch, a total gem of a pub.”

“I had the wonderful opportunity to visit federal market over the weekend with my sister. There was a small line but we were welcomed with hot chocolate and a wonderful greeting which made it feel like a much shorter wait. As we sat, I was greeting kindly by our waiter as we roughly scanned through the menu with only one thing in mind, French Toast. As the french toast arrived, I was astonished and amazed at the presentation. A nice strawberry syrup almost circling the french toast. Taking my first bite, the soft and pillow-like toast mixed with the not so overly sweet whipped cream and strawberry jam that really worked with well together with the acidity of the fresh fruit cutting through the richness. Every bite was consistent with that same taste as the first bite which I believe is crucial in any dish. The place was vibrant and welcoming with a nice atmosphere. Music even playing at the perfect volume where you can speak to the people with you and still enjoy it. 100% my new favorite spot here in Manchester. Recommend everyone to try the french toast.”

The staff recommended the freshly arrived Matcha 22, and it truly lived up to the hype – rich, authentic Japanese flavor and incredibly smooth. Absolutely delicious! “I was born and bred in Thailand and this is the best Thai fusion food you’ll ever find in Manchester - It is a little pricey but it’s well worth it for a special night out. I cannot find any Thai restaurant in Manchester that offers Kao-Soi(Northern-style curry noodles) and Sai-Oua (lemongrass and herbs sausage) on the menu! I was very impressed with how they executed both. Went twice and will return. Cocktails are nice too.”

“Came in for a coffee and bag of coffee beans. Aidan is really friendly and his shop has a really cool vibe. The coffee is good and I can see myself hanging out here more often post-lockdown, or attending one of the events that Aidan is planning once things start to open back up. If you’re a local, go and grab a coffee and show some support!”

“This is an absolute treat! Instead of being in France due to industrial action, we sought to bring France to us and so glad we did. The food was high quality and in comfortable surroundings. “I came here after receiving a discount code. The food quality and speed of service were phenomenal! The location is a bit out the way from the highstreet but worth the journey. The staff were wonderful, the seating and decor was great and modern with usb sockets and clips for dog leads. All on the ground floor so easily accessible for differently able people. Even without the discount code the food was very reasonably priced and great portion sizes.”
