“I'm a 67 year old man who's led an active life playing a variety of sports including training in karate at a basic level. About 6 weeks ago I read an article in which it was said that aikido is a very beneficial martial art for any age and that its techniques place less demands on the body than other forms. In other words a good place for older people who want to take up a martial art. I discovered that my nearest dojo was with Martin Acton Sensei in Dromore, County Down. I got in touch with him to arrange a 1:1 lesson and turned up to the dojo feeling nervous and self conscious. However I found Martin very welcoming and friendly. And over the weeks I have come to value his understanding, patience, knowledge and encouragement as he takes me through the main qualities he's trying to foster and the gentle techniques he's teaching. Unlike my previous experience of martial arts aikido emphasises developing qualities we all need to become better human beings, more loving, more compassionate, more grounded.”
“Our little girl Nina absolutely loves going to her drama class with shell. We couldn’t believe how confident she was on stage at their Christmas show after just a few weeks of going! She can still sometimes be very shy, but shell is so brilliant with her and encourages her in all the best possible ways. She teaches the kids about self worth, confidence, kindness and creativity.”

“From the moment I stepped into the gym, I was struck by the warm and welcoming atmosphere that the coaches and members alike exuded. The head coach, Eamonn, is an exceptional instructor who possesses both skill and patience in equal measure. He has an unparalleled ability to break down complex techniques into easily understandable steps, making it accessible for beginners and advanced students alike. Eamonn always takes the time to answer any questions, offer feedback and support to his students, and has a genuine passion for teaching Brazilian jiu-jitsu. Beyond the coaching, the community at the club is fantastic. The members are incredibly friendly and supportive of each other, creating an environment that fosters growth and learning. Everyone is eager to learn and eager to help others improve their skills. Overall, I would highly recommend this Brazilian jiu-jitsu club to anyone looking to learn and grow in the martial art. The instruction is top-notch, the community is friendly and supportive, and the training is an excellent workout for both the body and mind. I'm excited to see more people join the club, and I have no doubt that they will enjoy the same positive experience that I have had.”
