Visiting Manchester to see mother monster herself and was craving some lovely pizza just like our Italian New Yorker Stefani would like. Went to pizza express and the pizza was oh so delicious and the cocktails were strong and cheap just how I like them! Not to mention they only played Lady Gaga songs what a gag! Extra shoutout to Alina our waiter who was extremely kind and attentive during our whole visit and let us know the best offers to save us a buck. 10/10 would come again.
Me and my partner went there today at 18:10 and order chicken wings and meatballs for starters and a large pizza to share. They told us after 15 minutes that the wings fell on the floor and they had to made them again so it would take 5 minutes. After 10 more minutes they brought us the starters that we finished in less than 10 minutes because we were hungry. After a few minutes we asked the manager how long would the pizza take and he said 3 minutes. Bear in mind but the time we asked it was already 18:50 and because we were seeing everyone getting the pizza and the starters we asked a runner again. We were already concerned because the starters were late and the pizza was taking long aswell. At 19:01 a waitress came (with two braids, around 5’6 and light brown hair) and asked us what was the issue. When I explained to her that the manager said two minutes plus the issue before she said: “well he told you that because he didn’t know your order but it doesn’t take 3 minutes”. I told her that it cannot be that they tell us a time and it’s not true and having everyone getting the orders at the table within 10 minutes and us having to wait for everything being the only black people in the restaurant was weird. She said “well I already apologized for the food what else do you want” and “ if you work in hospitality you should understand”. I told her she shouldn’t talk in a rude way because they were the one making the mistake not us and I told her she was being rude and she said I accused her of lying. When the manager came (tall guy, short dark brown hair) I tried to explain the situation to him and he cut me and said “do you want the pizza or not?” I already paid for it and it was done so I took it and said to them that wasn’t a good service and the girl said sure… and left. I understand maybe they had a bad day but people shouldn’t treat other people like that. I already spoke with customer service, but I think it’s important to put it in here because they treat people different depending on how you look.
Came here first weekend in May 2025. For a pizza express I was disappointed considering the location of the restaurant and how busy it is during the evening they couldn't get the starter up to scratch. The famous dough balls tend to be the same amount on each plate and roughly the same size. My plate came and there were 7 of them and one was big and then it was one a bit smaller and the rest were so small it was a joke even serving it ( unfortunately I didn't take a picture of this but the picture of the other plate of you see the smaller one it was half the size ) as soon as I asked why the difference in sizes the plate was taken away as it wasn't and wouldn't have a taste of a dough ball. The chef came over and advised it didn't have time to rise and will have to wait 20-30 mins, and my point was you shouldn't have served it as it's not the quality what they usually serve. The pizza was standard although seemed a little sloppy. Staff were attentive but for the basic dough balls and margarita pizza the quality wasn't what I usually get in pizza express. The dessert seemed to be better than the rest.
The amount of smashed stuff in the space of a short time. The food wasn't that great. Wanted to know my life story to get onto app, I only wanted to buy food not apply for a mortgage. Was expensive for what it was and if we wouldn't have mentioned we wouldn't have got our bruchetta.
Had a nice pizza here on Saturday with friends. We all enjoyed the food. The servers were all friendly. However we ordered a portion of dough balls to have with our pizzas and they arrived after we had finished our pizzas after we had asked where they were several times. It was grand though, a decent meal overall.
Awesome food - really enjoyed the Polo Pesto pasta! It’s great to see that the portion size or recipe hasn’t changed much over the last few years. Giving 4 stars because service was very slow.
Brilliant customer service, got offered a vegan menu as soon as we entered along with the original menu. Would highly recommend the dough balls, best ones i have ever eaten. 100% everything is fresh, could see them making it infront of you in their kitchen area. Polite and welcoming manner through out. Tasty food and clean environment.
