Very friendly service. Wonderful Egg White Fried Rice with Dried Scallops. It’s the best fried rice I had so far!

Had an amazing evening for my daughter’s 40th birthday, the food was absolutely beautiful, the service was good as it was a big party of us there were a few delays with food being served , but apologies were given. The staff could not have been any more accommodating, they went above and beyond to make it a very enjoyable and successful evening. Many thanks to you all, we had a lovely Evening.

Two of us met and eat there last evening as it's very handy to Brooklands tram station. What a lovely choice! Lovely lady owner originally from Hong Kong served us. Perhaps a family member in the kitchen. Whoever it was can cook! I had a hot soup followed by fish and a side of mixed veg. Very good indeed.

The Gonbay has a popular Chinese name as "利苑". It opened 8 years ago. It attracted me when I went with my wife a day to Sale. Walking out from the Brookland Metro Station, my eyesights was firstly caught by a " Norwegian - style " block of buildings in a row, where the Gonbay situates. When going into the entryway of the restaurant, the dining hall is not spacious one but the upholstery is very fascinating in traditional Chinese antique dining tables and chairs. Food price is in a higher one than usual but is not comparable with its quality. There were disappointments of quality in food like : 1. The "Bamboo Shoot and Sea King infused soup Dumpling" in which the soup was salty . The soup basis was not usually ingrendient made by the dried scallops. 2. The "Spinach and Shrimp Dumpling" was the one which it made use of a ready-cooked shrimp. Shrimp was tough.

I visited Gonbay in Sale with my family last Sunday and ordered seafood along with a variety of authentic Hong Kong dishes. Everything was absolutely delicious! The evening chef, though young, is clearly experienced, and his cooking was fantastic! The attached photos capture just how good the food was. We will definitely be returning!

Complete shambles when we visited, despite there being plenty of staff in evidence. We had booked well in advance. Ordered our starters and mains. Ten minutes or so later another person came out and asked again what we wanted for our mains. Twenty minutes or more after ordering our starter we were advised that they "had run out of it". Didn't they know that sooner? It was too late for us to order another starter so we said to just bring the mains which arrived eventually and tbh were ok but just ok, nothing spectacular. We had ordered drinks which had arrived but had also asked for water at the same time and had to ask again before we got it some time later. Another table of 6 nearby were waiting absolutely ages and their meals all arrived at very different times and they too ran out of time and ended up cancelling parts of their meal which had not arrived and not finishing before they had to leave. Another couple spoke to us and said one had received their starter ages before and the other was still waiting. We could hear loud arguing and shouting coming from the kitchen. The staff were talking to each other about people telephoning to complain about take away orders. The heating wasn't on in late December and the place was cold. The bill arrived and they had already added a 10% service charge which frankly the service didn't warrant but not being mean we were prepared to pay. When paying unbelievably the waitress asked if we wanted to pay an additional tip to which we replied "are you joking? You've already added 10% to the bill without asking which is more than is deserved we aren't paying more than 10%"! Maybe they were just having an extremely bad day, who knows? We certainly won't be wasting our time and money again! If you like food of mediocre quality, loud shouting from the kitchen as a backdrop to your meal, slow, disorganised and chaotic service and have plenty of time to spare I'd recommend you visit. Fawlty Towers springs to mind! I laughed a lot because it was so bad, my companion and the other diners present didn't so much!

The food is quite good but you need to be prepared to pay an extra 10%. They add a mandatory service charge on top of your bill and then still ask for a tip. Me and my fiancee had a two course meal which came to £97, which was quite ridiculous. The majority of staff are quite young and are often on their phones. At one point the owner came over to our table and attempted to speak to me in Chinese (I am very clearly not Chinese). Overall decent food, high price, poor customer service.

Very friendly environment. They serve the most authentic Hong Kong style food and dim sum, very very recommended! 香港人加油
