   Amazing ambience, vibe but taste is far away from authentic pure Indian food. Appreciated the complementary papadum and birthday dessert which was tasty. Portions are small but expected from fine dining. Chilli chicken was disappointing made with schezwan sauce. Biryani was very mediocre though served with curry and raita. Highly recommended for ambience but not recommended if you are chasing authentic taste.

   We hadn’t made a reservation but the lovely staff found us a table on a Saturday night which we were thankful for. Oh my goodness what an experience! The food and service was outstanding. We had samosa and prawns to start, followed by butter chicken and chilli and black pepper chicken with the fluffiest garlic naan….which I could have eaten several of!! So tasty and well presented. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend or revisit if in Birmingham again.

   Had an absolutely amazing fine dining experience at Varanasi Birmingham! From the moment we walked in, the ambience was incredible elegant, warm, and perfect for a special evening. The staff were very professional and attentive, making us feel truly looked after throughout our visit. The food was outstanding every dish was bursting with flavour and beautifully presented. I tried the set menu, which was excellent and great value, especially for groups and events. A special shout-out to Tariq for taking such great care of us and making the experience even better! Highly recommend Varanasi to anyone looking for delicious food, amazing service, and a beautiful atmosphere.

   Food: ordered butter chicken and a lamb dish. The starter was also lamb. The sauce for the chicken was seasoned perfectly, not too sweet, not spicy, a perfectly balanced plate. The naan was soft and buttery and the rice was also very nice. The lamb dish was also seasoned well. This is the first time I had a chicken breast rather than cubed pieces for the butter chicken, while I think this makes the presentation look fantastic I do think more flavour is absorbed by the chicken when it is cubed (although they do score the meat so it isn’t a huge difference and there is more than enough sauce to add that fantastic flavour) Service: the service is amazing, everyone is attentive. We always order drinks along with some water, our water cups were never empty, any server who went past checked and refilled us as needed. Atmosphere: I was impressed from the moment I walked through the front door. There are multiple floors that are well decorated, one that can be booked out for larger parties, and the lowest floor is the perfect atmosphere for a date, relaxed and romantic. I would recommend for sure.

   Wow.The venu exudes class and luxury and has a decor like no other restaraunt. Definitely not what I was expecting when I went through the doors as I had not done any prior research before deciding to dine here. Didnt start well as I called to enquire what type of Indian cuisine was being served or where the chefs were from. I was constantly told 'indian' much like the sketch from goodness gracious me. Was promised a call back that never happened. Coincidently I walked past to see if questions could be answered but they couldn't by front desk. Ray was called upon by friendly security at front door. He answered my questions and invited to come and have a look. I didn't step out until 2 hrs later for what was a great dining experience. Outstanding service that comes a a dear cost. Mix grill.....chicken outstanding 10/10,kebab was midocre 6/10, lamb chop brilliant. Good quality produce and great flavour.9/10. Paapadi chaat was way too thick and lacked the layers of flavour you would expect. Was like it was made with hung yoghurt. 5/10. Biryani was excellent and the sauce/curry along side was good too nit there is any need for it. 9/10 stingy raita pportio.needed 2. We was plied with water and naan bread which obviously totts up the bill. The water was unnecessary. Desserts we're terrible. Chocolate fondant was okay. Nothing amazing and the pannacotta was so boring and lacked flavour. Couldn't taste coconut.Needs to deliver more given the ambience,the service and the high prices of the menu and service charges. Did have a nice touch as we had an extra little dessert that woukd thoughtful and cute and mad you feel special for a moment until you start noticing that every couple around you is getting the same thing.lol I came again a week later however was surprised with dining requirements as you had to order a minimum number of starters and mains per guest. This was a little embarrassing as I had guests from abroad and I had ordered the maharaja mix grill to start but I was quickly made aware that this would not suffice. I had planned to dine and order more but not to the level that was expected as we just wasn't that hungry. Think it was 2 starts and 2 main expectation per person. The whole idea is a little strange as I have never encountered this before. We walked out. Despite this yes I would come again. The restaurant and ray left a positive long lasting impression. The restaraunt ambience and decor is a winner and sets you aside from others and into an elite league. However you do need to work on those kebabs, the tiny portion sizes in the mix grill and the desserts. Thankyou for the experience

   Visited with friends on 11/12/22. Runs a dark theme decor mostly. Loads of Buddha statues. Friendly waiting staff and at the reception. Separate dining area available according to number of guests, and budgets, I guess. Food leaves a lot to be desired. Food was cold and nothing that I would visit again for. The 3 stars are for ambience and if available, there would have been 2 stars for food. I’ve had better tasting food at a lot of other places. Same for desserts.

   I enjoy a good Indian dining experience. This was next level. Stunning decor, amazing service and superb food. Went for work team dinner and booked well in advance. There are lots of tables and it wasn't very busy, but it was a Tuesday night. I imagine on busier nights, you might need to make a booking. What more is there to say. Its definitely a 'MUST-go' destination restaurant.

   One of my favorite places in Birmingham. The staff is caring and polite. They would definitely do everything they can to serve you well. The food is delicious and they have a large range of options for all type of eaters. The cocktails are good and tasty. I would definitely recommend Varanasi to someone wanting to try another way to eat indian, celebrate, or simply be mesmerized by their decoration.

   Amazing experience at Varanasi! Food was absolutely delicious and they catered for all our dietary requirements and not to mention the beautiful presentation. We booked out the Maharaja Booth for my hen party with my sisters, and it was the perfect spot in the restaurant where we were away from the main restaurant dining hall and we were served by Key, who looked after us extremely well. Staff are very polite and friendly and we even had the pleasure of meeting the manager Ray. Key and Ray made sure that our night was one to remember. The beauty and opulence of the restaurant was truly amongst the best. The lavish decor was on point and it was the perfect place to enjoy a girls night out. Thank you Varanasi, we will definitely be visiting again and will recommend to friends and family!

   Great service and food. There's a lot of attention and effort to create an ambience and atmosphere, for example incense sticks burning around the place... a lovely waterfeature and stunning entrance. Food was fragrant and packed with flavours! Already looking forward to next visit!
