The Bay Tree is my go to place when meeting up with friends. Proper home cooked, fresh delicious food and good prices. It's quiet enough for it to be cosy and intimate but lively enough not to be boring. The point of eating out is to be able to eat, drink and talk at the same time without staff hovering over your table. Although the excellent previous chef has now retired, I really appreciate that his legacy of coming out of the kitchen to greet and ask the diners how their meal was. The new chef was excellent.

Lovely place to pop into that was easy to navigate to. The atmosphere was light and bright as we were seated in a side room with a skylight. The food was delicious and they offered a small roast serving vs the full size, they did however charge me for a full size serving when I had ordered a mini version.

Spent a lovely evening with friends and colleagues for a birthday meal. The food was outstanding and freshly cooked. It's a lovely restaurant with friendly staff. Good value for money and lovely looking plates of food. We were a party of 10 and all the plates looked lovely. The cauliflower pakora and tandoori baked salmon was gorgeous.

In order to entice more custom the restaurant have started upstairs tapas (no need to book) on weekdays. My review reflects on this experience only as I have posted 5 star reviews on our previous dining experiences in the main restaurant. Simply put, tonight was pretty crap. We arrived 6.30pm (Thursday) and were the only ones upstairs. The choice of tapas was minimal. Five choices in all with one of those being bread and olives. We only stayed because the waitress informed us (after checking) that we could order side dishes in addition to the limited tapas choice. However, the quality of the food was poor on most counts. The onion rings (tapas) were large portions of thick batter, the mashed potato side dish was small and overpriced and the jalapeno (tapas) was mostly batter. Three tiny chicken wings(tapas) was not memorable. I wasn't impressed when the waitress informed us that the "chef" (I use those words lightly) provided the side dishes as a "one off". It was very quiet in the main restaurant so one would have thought the extra revenue from the side dishes would be most welcome. We are regulars here and will continue to be so. However, we shall give the tapas a wide berth.

I dine out a lot when away with work and this is one of the best meals I’ve had. An unassuming little gastropub / restaurant which is tastefully decorated and offers a superbly warm and friendly welcome and seriously delicious food. Can whole heartedly recommend the delicate cauliflower Pakora starter with equally delicious dips elegantly placed on the plate. The Bay Tree Rossini (fillet steak on a pate croute with rich mushroom sauce), was amazing. For £26 I was expecting it to be good but this - for a little eatery in an off-the-beaten-track Midlands village - was superb. The service was genuine but unobtrusive and even the chef came out to see if the dinner was enjoyable. Highly recommended.

Manager is fantastic, Stephanie is her name I think? Great with me and my girlfriend who have been here once or twice before! To sum it up absolutely astonishing.

Went with my wife for dinner, good food and drinks selection, portions were very generous. We had fish and chips and the pie. We both enjoyed the evening.

Where to begin. We were recommended this restaurant and my gosh we will definitely be going back. The food was amazing! I had the beef wellington and my husband the lamb and it was delicious 10/10. The service was fantastic the staff were very polite and attentive. A great place to eat out in Kinver.
