Called in Ossett this morning for the first time before work as I had heard about the market there, which was fab! Popped into this chippy for some chips and I was very happy. Gorgeous chips, cooked to perfection, the proper good old fashioned way, in beef dripping and served on paper, just how they should be! Best chips I have had for ages! Shop very clean, nice portion size and owner was great! I will be back soon!

Went today, the fish itself was awful, grey, dry and rubbery, definitely not cod or haddock, the batter nice and crispy, chips ok. Won't be returning because of the poor quality fish.

Good fish and peas. Top quality taste and flavour. They had no idea who Rick Stein was when I was congratulating the staff.

One of the best Fish & Chip shops in the area this place. Just a shame it isn't open more often. Friday teatime would be great.

Over the years we have always had fish and chips here when visiting Ossett market and usually the queues are out of the door. We called today and the first thing we noticed was no queues, good thing we thought, wrong. The few locals who were eating inside had fishcakes, sausages or pies and we found out why when our fish were cooked, gone was the lovely white fish that we remembered to be replaced by a greyish offering that tasted as good as it looked, awful. Obviously haddock and cod have been replaced by a cheaper variety to keep prices down but we would rather pay a little more for something that we can eat and enjoy, needless to say we won't be going back.

Ordered a chip butty at lunch time, peak period and the chips were cold. Not warm, COLD. Waste of money. Didn't eve eat it as chips just felt greasy being cold.

Chatty staff. Fish n Chips were the best I have tasted in a long time. Not greasy and portion size was good. Nice to have plenty of seating as it was raining outside. Good luck guys.

First time visiting here, and I understand, it's recently changed owner. I went in for a lightly battered fish butty, and it was fantastically fluffy on the inside, the counter assistant was very welcoming, and obviously knows the regular customers. I will visit again when in the area
