“Only just found out this place had opened in what used to be the Star of India (which I used for about 15 years). Thought I'd give it a try - we ordered 3 main dishes, all of which were absolutely delicious, and ready bang on time. I will definitely be going again, and would thoroughly recommend it to anyone. This review is of the old Baburchi, now gone.”

“If you have not been down to this Pub yet then you need to. The owners are fantastic along with the staff. They make you feel really welcome. The food is awesome and the kids portion fills me up. They now have a pool table. Sundays are great as you can go down and have a lovely Sunday dinner and then relax and watch the free singing entertainment. Great choice of beers as well and if you just fancy something light, they do the best pizza in town, all made fresh.”

No.seriously. :-) The food is outstanding, and the service is second to none from the minute you walk through the door until you leave. “Was in Ossett to have a tattoo at Ashes Rise Tattoo Studio and was advised to have a substantial meal prior to the tattoo, so this being a 2 minute stroll away I chose here. Glad I did, lovely cosy cafe, all staff smiling and helpful. Ordered a large breakfast and large it definitely was too. Proper butchers sausages, nice thick bacon. Everything was lovely, was definitely substantial as I couldn't finish it lol. Definitely come again prior to next tattoo, or even if visiting Ossett.”

“Great independent coffee place in the heart of Ossett town. The hot chocolate was chocolatey (I know it sounds daft but unfortunately not many places get it right!), delicious and was just the right amount of sweet. They have a large selection of cakes as well if required.”

“We had our wedding here at the end of October 2024, it was absolutely amazing Marcus made the whole run up to the wedding seem effortless, he took care of everything and took all the stress from it. Marcus and his team made the whole day perfect we couldn't have asked for a better place to get married. The home cooked food was outstanding, we will be going back for a few meals. “Excellent fish and chip shop !, prices are very reasonable even after price increases at other fish and chip shops they still seem to be very reasonable. Having ordered fish butties , battered sausage ,spam fritters and Scollops from here all good has been cooked well and has been fresh. Fish butty was very nice with a nice sized fish and and good batter . Nothing was soggy and everything was nice and crisp. Members of staff are very polite and kind . There’s a nice outdoor seating area outside also if you would like to eat your fish and chips after purchasing. Overall a great fish and chip shop in terms of value and quality 5/5”

“Lovely breakfast buffet. None of the cheap ingredients that you usually get on a buffet, all proper stuff and very tasty. Have as much or as little as you want for £7.99. Unlimited refills on tea and coffee too. Pub was clean and bright with plenty of seating inside and out. Staff very friendly and helpful. No ales on the bar unfortunately (not that I wanted one with breakfast)”

“Just moved to Ossett so this was our first time going to Gandhi Spice, it did not disappoint. Food was spot on. I asked Ali the owner what he would recommend and told me about a few of the dishes he thought I would like as I don't like it spicy, I ended up with the Lamb Handi and it was so flavoursome. Kahim, sorry if I've spelt that wrong was such a lovely waiter, so polite and attentive. Bounus is that they sell alcohol. Highly recommend this restaurant.”

“Ordered a Too Good To Go Magic Bag for collection between 5.30pm-6pm. An hour before the allocated collection slot I received a notification telling me the collection time had been put back to between 6pm-6.15pm. A little annoying as I already had plans in place and had to shift them around to make the new collection time. I live in Huddersfield so the drive to Ossett is 25 mins. By the time I got to the pub car park I realised I had received another notification, now telling me the bag had been cancelled completely as there was no surplus food available. The cancellation notification was sent exactly 9 mins before the collection slot. I'm not angry that there was no surplus food available, just very annoyed that I made a 50 mins round trip for nothing. Why could you not have cancelled the order with more notice because 9 mins is really not enough? Other reviews suggest the food here is excellent and Dan is a nice chap (hence why I came from further away to get a Magic Bag to try) so I am not going to tarnish his record by leaving a low star review. But please Dan, if you read this, could you at least consider giving more notice when you cancel the Too Good To Go Magic Bags. I've been buying bags on Too Good to Go for a while now from various businesses, and only other has cancelled my order - but they gave 4 hour's notice not 9 mins.”
