“This is a fantastic country pub with friendly staff, the regular clientele really make you feel welcome, it's got a good range of popular drinks, and a really nice pint of Guinness, It's situated in the centre of Gawthorp, with plenty of good walks and views of the countryside, it's got plenty of history and nature too, also a small beer garden out back with a kids area, that is perfect for the summer evening's, And a stone's throw away from the M1, did I also mention the amazing home cooked meals done as you request it, All in this place is a big yes from me,”

“We had our wedding here at the end of October 2024, it was absolutely amazing Marcus made the whole run up to the wedding seem effortless, he took care of everything and took all the stress from it. Marcus and his team made the whole day perfect we couldn't have asked for a better place to get married. The home cooked food was outstanding, we will be going back for a few meals. “Lovely breakfast buffet. None of the cheap ingredients that you usually get on a buffet, all proper stuff and very tasty. Have as much or as little as you want for £7.99. Unlimited refills on tea and coffee too. Pub was clean and bright with plenty of seating inside and out. Staff very friendly and helpful. No ales on the bar unfortunately (not that I wanted one with breakfast)”

“Good atmosphere, talkative patrons, the staff are nice even though they are a little draconian and eager to enforce the no mobile rule. I get that it's meant to encourage conversation, but I got told off for trying to check the bus times to see if I had time to buy another pint. It's also hypocritical to then accept payments via phone contact less function. I admit I usually do this to be passive aggressive. Lol”

“Visited her while we were in the area visiting friends. The staff were friendly, they had unfortunately run out of the drinks that we wanted so had to find something else to drink but we enjoyed our evening there. We were there Saturday evening and late Sunday afternoon after the ladies football, it was very quiet on the Sunday after the football”
