Had a B+B stay booked for a course I was doing locally. Checked in quickly and found my room easily. Room was very clean and tidy with all the mashing gear, tv and ironing board and iron and a selection of towels. Really nice room well set out. Restaurant was clean, spacious and well set out with a decent selection of beers, lagers, ciders along with the usual spirits and wine selection. Menu has a good selection of meals with a variety of choices. Mixed grill was very good. Breakfast was nice and just enough to start the day off. Staff are very polite and any questions are answered well and dealt with efficiently. Overall a great stay with good food and service. Definitely be back where possible.

We visit the Red Lion regularly for either a meal in the restaurant, which was lovely, drinks in the pub, which is very cosy with an open fire, classic, oak beams or just for breakfast or a coffee. We are going to stay in the hotel before Christmas and I have had a look at two of the rooms and they are furnished/decorated to a high standard with a modern bathroom. The staff are friendly and helpful and we love going. It is also pet friendly with one pet-friendly room in the hotel. I would highly recommend going for a quiet drink/meal, I like the idea that the restaurant is separate from the bar with waitress service. It's not one of those pubs where you have to order food at the bar, which is good. Enjoy!

Went for lunch today. Absolutely brilliant from the moment we walked through the door. Excellent front of house staff. The meal was the best we have eaten in a long time. My husband said it was the best burger he has ever eaten. I had the toad in the hole it was perfect. Thank you.

What an amazing place. Came tonight as a party of 5 and was looked after brilliantly by the staff. The place was really busy but this did not hamper the service or quality. The food was amazing we all had different but particular favourites were the lamb shank shepherds pie and mixed grill. The chef (Kris) does and amazing meal and his gravy is superb! A must visit for a very reasonably priced high quality pub dining experience.

Rooms are fine with helpful staff. Sadly the food let's this place down. I had to return the steak I had as it was full of sinew. In fairness they offered another steak or something else which would have meant my partner and myself eating separately. Breakfast was average. The poached eggs were watery which resulted in my partner leaving her meal this time.

Four friends enjoyed delicious food on a Monday evening. Very pleasant decor; clean smart facilities. We really enjoyed the steak and ale and mushroom and ale pies. Combined with a mini dessert and coffee, this qualified us for a reasonable βSupper clubβ price. Have recommended to nearby family already.

Booked for a family meal for my birthday. Visited numerous times before the new refit, but tonight we left unhappy. Donβt mind waiting for food (40mins) but it wasnβt the usual standard we had experienced on previous visits. But the most disappointing thing about tonight was the service we received. Missing meals, missing items on plates and having to ask for them. Usually the server might come and see if you need anymore drinks, but not on this occasion. After finishing our meals, we waited quite a while and still no one acknowledging that we had finished, so we had to ask if we could see a desserts menu, which then prompted the server to clear the table. While clearing our plates, I personally would have gave the customer a deserts menu to look at while doing this, but not on this occasion. She then returned a while later, and asked if there was anything else, even though we asked for a desserts menu? I personally felt like we had been forgotten about throughout the whole experience, even though we had 8 people on our table. Everyone was getting fed up of waiting, so we decided to not have desserts and leave. When the waitress returned, we paid in cash and she just grabbed the money and walked off. No thank you or anything. Usually as you leave, the staff usually acknowledge you, but on this occasion there was nothing, not even a smile. Shame as it used to be nice and local for us.

We came here on 3 occasions, 2 times were turned away because they only do service for people staying at the hotel. For the location of being on a main route, next to a roundabout. A perfect place for those who are travelling - this is extremely surprising that no service is offered. The one occasion when we were allowed, the breakfast was good.
