I have to say if you want the perfect Sunday lunch this is the place to go. The food is fantastic, the service second to none. The price reflects the food and the personalised service and pride that is poured into this fantastic experience. A family run business that strives to be the best and is all this and more. I have been in the entertainment business all my life, dinned on 5 star cruise ships and eaten in the best places. In terms of a pub this venue delivers the very best in that arena and more. This pub would give most restaurants a run for their money and then some. Lovely friendly staff and a family that works hard behind the scenes im sure that makes it look effortless. Cannot speak highly enough about the Dog and Gun. Try it for yourself. You wont be disappointed.

We stayed at Leeming Wells Hotel for 2 nights and had breakfast and evening meal in The Dog & Gun next door. The food was fabulous, I had rump steak which was done to my liking, with vegetables and chips which were so nice. My son had a mixed grill which he enjoyed with chips and onion rings. Breakfast was lovely, husband and son had full English which they enjoyed. Lovely warm atmosphere in pub and very welcoming. Lovely open fire in bar, very cosy. Prices are reasonable in line with anywhere else. Service was great, waitresses very attentive. It was my third time staying at Leeming Wells and will be back next year.

The location is great with stunning views across the moors and the reviews were good, so we decided to try it for the first time for food one cold Sunday afternoon. Unfortunately the quality of the food did not hit the level it should be for the prices being charged. I'm a big fan of roast dinners, but decided against it after being told by the waitress that all the meats are cooked well done. I opted for the slow roasted Lamb Henry instead which I was told was cooked in gravy for 4hrs, sounded yummy. However when it arrived there was a tough dry layer of meat on the top and a mint gravy poured round it, as if it had been cooked in its gravy a few days prior, transferred and chilled and then reheated. Not the best Henry I've had but, ok. My fellow dinner ordered duck starter. On arrival you could see that the pieces of roasted breast were dried out as you could see dusty bits of meat left by the carving knife and the edges were curled up. Our suspicions were confirmed when they tried to cut into the meat and weren't able to so had to be returned. Whoever is responsible for quality in the kitchen really needs to pay more attention to what is being put out there, and the waiting staff to call it out if the quality isn't where it needs to be. For us, we won't be going there again which is a shame as we enjoy local pub dinners out .

We came for Sunday lunch. A fabulous experience. A wide ranging menu and I had the excellent roast beef dinner. The sticky toffee pudding was delicious. Mrs C's lamb Henry was amazing. Recommended

A few years since my last visit, but was more than pleased to find that on Bank holiday Monday, the food is still of an exceptional standard in this lovely gem of a place . My salmon was an ample portion , perfecttly cooked in the most delicious sauce. My fiance had the Sirloin steak topped with the hugest, freshest king prawns in garlic butter, again , cooked to perfection. We were well looked after by the landlord , his staff and full marks to the chef. The lovely open fire was going and even the music was a good eclectic mix. And to put the top hat on things the glass covered well is still there ! Thankyou for a thoroughly enjoyable evening, we shall return asap.

Went here for an early evening meal. The pub is very smart inside with an interesting glass cover over an old well and we were made very welcome. The menu seems to cater for a variety of tastes and there is a specials board. The done was excellent and I like the little touch no top of my coffee at the end. Can highly recommend.

Great country pub with scenic views over a windy landscape. Ideal for walkers. A warm welcome, friendly staff and great food. Their signature dish, Lamb Henry is excellent, very tasty and the lamb just falls of the bone. Our third visit and we will be back again!
