I Had a little sausage and mash meal from here. To my upset the gravy was lumpy and the mash was unflavourfull, the sausage was the worst bit it gave me weeklong aggresive stomach cramps and violent dieareah it was not good. Would never return as the table was alao sticky not good.

I arrived at this quaint venue expecting excellent food, having read the reviews but I must say I was a little disappointed. Don't get me wrong the food is good and well presented but the garlic mushrooms were very mild, I could barely taste garlic. The chicken wings were bland and a bit dry. The pie was very nice and tasty as were the chips. The steak which is what I went for was overcooked but still moist, definitely not medium rare. Overall it's a nice place serving nice food but I've had better food for the same price elsewhere.

Me and partner have been going more or less weekly for the best part of 2 years and we have never had a bad experience all the staff are very friendly and you can see they have a true passion for what they do they go above and beyond for you always make sure you enjoyed and always make you feel welcome and the food is by far the best place in Barnsley! Keep up the good work guys! Connor & Kim

Loved this little gem of a place. Booked quite late but was offered 2 time options. Arrived and was shown to a small table for 2 in the middle of the room which was ok, but were then offered a different table closer to a window and more roomy which we accepted. Dinner was lovely, Sunday dinner and steak pie were our choices. In all honestly, the pie was too much!!! Maybe no starter next time......although the soup was to die for. Will definitely return

Ate here last night, after wanting to try it for so long now. Ordered the fillet but was told they'd run out, I was gutted. Settled for the ribeye and ended up eating the best steak I'd ever had! It was unreal! I ordered it medium and that's just how it came, absolute perfection. Others had steaks and the beef wellington, everyone loved their food. The restaurant is lovely, staff are great. Don't be fooled because its in a snooker club! Best steak ever! And the prices are so reasonable for the size of cut you get. We've paid much more at local steakhouses for much smaller portions. An absolute gem! We will 100% be back. Thanks Jon

Managed to get in here during a trip up to Barnsley with a friend - they managed to seat us as a walk-in without a booking, which was great. Friendly service and the Sunday roast was fantastic. Beef was melt in your mouth, highly reccomended.

Our visit was because we were given a voucher for christmas. I know the place from years ago when it was a working man's club. First appearance, the car park is small and uneven under foot. Climb a few steps and you enter the Bistro. I found it a little gem, quirky and cosy. We were shown to a table, we asked for another no problem, sat down left with menus to choose our meals, short while later came back for drinks order, choose a lovely bottle of Shiraz, reasonably priced, ordered the food, food came, chosen steaks came cooked to order, chips and onion rings homemade were excellent. The staff were excellent, we had an issue with one of the steaks, it was cooked to our liking it was just a query regarding type of steak. The chef came out with a joint of meat, and showed us how he cut the steak from the joint. Happy with the meal we paid and even left a tip.

Food in this Bistro is fabulous, such a varied menu. Seven on us visited and everyone was pleased with their dishes. Staff couldn't be more helpful and friendly. There is also a snooker room at the back so anyone can play before or after dinner.
