Been here a few times for food, it's nice and decent sized portions. The staff are friendly and the atmosphere is usually good.

This place never fails to impress, whatever time of the day or week. A Tuesday lunchtime with my aging parents was turned into a memorable occasion with great pub food and excellent service from Barbara who attended to our every need. We will be back very soon!

Had a lovely meal tonight at the Peacock. Angela was really welcoming and friendly and nothing was too much trouble for her. The food was really well presented and was delicious so compliments to the chef. Thank you to all the staff especially Angela and Chris for making the evening extra special you’re a great team.

Called at peacock on a whim after a Monday evening dog walk and couldn’t be bothered to cook tea … not only did Angela welcome us at the bar and get our drinks right away while we chose food, she told us her favourites which made our food choices easier … we had the chicken Parmo and steak and ale pie and it was absolutely delicious the waitress Freya was lovely and the food was delicious. Good value for the money and the pub is a great atmosphere! It’s dog friendly and Angela made our little whippet feel welcome and brought him some little treats to enjoy ! What a lovely evening and great food ! Thanks to you both for making our ‘on a whim’ evening so lovely !

Went for food midweek, booked a table pub was cold, no atmosphere, ordered a coffee on entering pub and a smooth, took my smooth to table, waited 10 minutes asked about wife's coffee, bar staff had pushed buttons on machine and forgot about it was cold when she brought it to table, main course came mine was OK but my wife's was obviously microwaved potatoes were hard and dish was very small and gravy stained poor presentation, Will go again to give benefit of doubt

Very friendly staff. Fantastic pigs in blankets with the meal and a selection of tasty beers, with food and drink at good prices compared to some other local pubs (eg fish n chips at £9.50 vs £13.50 in another S6 pub) Thanks to the staff for opening their doors and helping the Stannington community in the gas crisis!

A nice busy scene in the pub. Friendly and helpful stuff and a lovely Sunday lunch, which I thought was a bargain for just under a tenner. We asked for extra gravy a couple of times and it was no bother from the friendly waitress. I will definitely go again

The bar staff need to be encouraged to greet customers as they enter the premises. We arrived for a pre-booked meal on Monday evening (12 September 2022) and the two bar staff didn't acknowledge our presence for several minutes: there was no greeting or acknowledgement that we had arrived for several minutes. As it was a a Monday evening, and very few customers, they need training on how to make customers feel 'valued'. The meal service was very slow - the result of insufficient staffing. However, the meal was good and value for money - such a shame that staff need training in social skills.
