Previously I had problem with undercooked food. It has been improved after talking with owner. Currently waiting time is shocking. 2x previously placed orders for collection had over 1h waiting time. When I came 40min after placing order my ticket was still hanging in front desk not been passed to kitchen. Today my order has been cancelled. This is enough for me. NOT RECCOMENDED - Ackies under new management can't provide food in good standard.
I don't usually post reviews but had to let you know that the food here is shockingly bad! Ordered chicken tikka for 7.30pm came at 7.50pm. Tikka very hot and very salty so inedible, rice greasy, bhaji very spicy. Rang and complained offered a replacement. Didn't want to chance another curry so ordered tikka nann and chips. After ringing another 3 times, eventually arranged 9.20pm. In the meantime I'd rung to say it was too late and I wanted a refund. When manager eventually arrived with food he said he'd refund the different if they found anything wrong with the original meal which I'd had to put back in the containers and give him back!! Got completely past wanting to eat by then but was going to have the chips, but they were barely warm and really didnt taste good, whatever they cooked them in wasnt very nice! So much for a treat on a Saturday night! Unbelievable, never known anything like it. Avoid at all cost!!!
Really surprised at how good this was! With a name like Ackies and the looks of the place I would have thought the food would be awful but no it was great! Fish and chips were great portions and tasted amazing, curry's were nice portions too and great taste although the chicken did have many chewy fatty bits and curry's were not labelled so unclear as to which was which. Kebab was huge and the donner meat was gorgeous. Lovely sauces too. Will definitely be back.
Awesome food, extremely good value for money, although the owner/chef is very good at cooking and really does it properly (like freshly grilled awesomely marinated chicken for wraps), orders tend to get mixed up, so double check these things. From 5 orders there were 3 mistakes. Calling to make sure helps. Otherwise, definitely a must try place, very sincere cooking.
