*edit: 2025 Aug Still great! Nice chippy easily recognized by the royal blue front. Near bus stops and pubs. The massive menu is impressive. Lunch specials and other daytime specials offer value discount. Portions are more than fair. Staff are hardworking by the looks of it. Open at 11am til late. Cheers to the Village Takeaway. Menu posted here for convenience.

Absolutely terrible customer service from this place tonight ,, placed a £83 order to feed the family as a birthday celebration the wrong order arrived with about £20 worth of food of someone else’s order to feed 10 people! Normally when mistakes like this happen we call the restaurant and they offer to replace and sort the order for you especially when the customer has spent so much money however tonight the gobby woman on the phone seemed to think she was on a school yard screaming and shouting trying to argue rather than dealing with a customer of the buisness she is supposed to be representing. She refused a refund, refused me to bring down the wrong order and the receipt with my correct order for the restaurant to fix which we were happy to do instead she told us it’s not her problem ring uber before putting the phone down. I rang back as this was absolutely disgusting I’d never dream of speaking to my customers like this in my fast food job and in my fast food job while we know Uber are to blame for missing orders we do replace the order as common decency. That woman who answered the phone needs a lesson in customer service skill and maybe a day off she sounds very angry

Spent £30 here, got scampi & chips mozzarella Dippers, S&P chips and a meal. Phoned them to say the chips are undercooked - chef reckons “bring it back I’ll do u another but it will be the exact same” mate are you ok ? The mozzarella sticks were all bashed in the box … told the lady on the phone - not a sorry between non of them. Honestly avoid this place like the plague it is VILE!

If I could give this place minus stars I would. Staff very abrupt, argumentative, aggressive. Orders food on phone, repeats my order several times, goes to collect gets to my car and checks to see they've put the wrong sauce. Thought no problem I'll just go and tell them. Bare in mind I even repeated my order when I got to the store and they passed me the food. So goes back to get an instant snarl off a member of staff (she must have knew they had added the wrong sauce after I mentioned it in store when collecting and rather than change it she just passed it) so I says to the lady "hi you've put the wrong sauce on the sausage dinner." Before I'd finished the lady replied "no I haven't you asked for gravey and peas." So told them I know what I ordered because I don't like gravy and I order the same thing where ever I go". She continues to go on and on then another lady jumps in and states that if you want curry sauce you have to order everything separate and not say sausage dinner because they inly do them with gravey (weird as I've never know a set sauce on a sausage dinner) so again I tell her I know what I stated and that I'd repeated my order in store aswell which she replied that I hadn't I'd only asked for an extra sausage. So in the end I said "can you just redo the meal please I'm not arguing about sauce" rather than just change it the first girl carried on "I will argue with you of your telling me I got the order wrong" and continues. The manager even asked her to just change the order but she ignored him and carried on. Eventually she changed the food I said thankyou and left. Got home and feel sick, the curry is like water, zero flavour and food is swimming init. It the meals were both meant to be large, and could have easily fit in a small tray. Freezing cold. Peals like they were made 2 days ago. Honestly I'll never eat there again and I will defiantly be letting friends and family know how bad the food and service is. Zero stars

Call in to this place tonight , ordered two meat and potato pies and some chicken wings , all disgusting and went straight into the bin, a health hazard , pies overcooked and broken , pastry was rock hard and the chicken was just as bad , they have all been left in the heater cabinet all day by the look of it , anyone who knows anything about catering should know to keep checking the product in the heater , I wouldn’t go in that place again if they paid me,

Got prawn chow mein, Peking mushrooms, prawn toast, salt and pepper chips and curry sauce. Having read some of these reviews I wasn't sure what to expect. But wanted to try and give business local. Pleasantly surprised. Really enjoyed the food, arrived hot and on time. Prawn toast especially nice. Gave 4 stars as needed to add a bit of soy to the chow mein to suit my taste, and the chips were a little soggy (I love a soggy chip but the other half said he would rather them more crisp). Will definitely get food from here again.
