   My partner and I had Christmas lunch yesterday. unfortunately our experience was terrible. I have left an honest review. The positives were the service & atmosphere.The food was awful, I had the traditional xmas roast. The very small portion of turkey tasted ok but the small roast potatoes were like rocks and the gravy was so strong it was overpowering. My partner had the beef which was extremely dry. Both meals looked as if they had come straight out of a microwave.

   We booked for a large party of us to come late after a local event on a Monday night. We were going to arrive at about the time the kitchen was closing. Amy and the team were absolutely brilliant in making the whole thing work. We pre-ordered food, which was waiting for us when we arrived. Staff stayed late especially - which was amazing. Everyone went above and beyond to accommodate us and could not have been friendlier or more helpful. It was a lovely event - good food, reasonably priced and brilliant staff. Thank you to everyone at The Crown - it was a fab birthday celebration!

   What a difference a few weeks can make with new management! We stopped going for some time as the food had become very poor. Amy, the new manager, has come in with a determination to elevate the pub to the potential it has, particularly since the refurbishment. We've had 2 meals in the 2 weeks, both excellent and the roast on Sunday was superb. Amy is welcoming, and it's great to see a manager who is visible and prepared to pitch in with her staff. A shout-out to Ben and Jermaine, who have long been the familiar faces behind the bar, who go out of their way to make you feel welcome.

   Booked a table for four for dinner and was really disappointed by the service. We arrived and at 8:55pm I went to the counter to order drinks and starters. The staff member happily took the order and payment, gave us the drinks, and the starters were brought to the table. All fine so far. But when I returned to the bar at around 9:30pm to order our mains, I was told the kitchen had closed at 9pm. This was never mentioned when we ordered starters just minutes before closing. Why wouldn’t the person taking the first order inform us the kitchen was about to shut, or suggest ordering mains at the same time? That feels like basic customer service, especially when it’s obvious a table has come for a full dinner. As a result, we were left unable to order the rest of our meal and the night was pretty much ruined. Extremely poor communication and customer service. Won’t be rushing back. - Table 29!

   Had an absolutely fantastic experience at The Crown. The food was delicious, freshly prepared, and full of flavour. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, but what really made our visit stand out was the incredible staff. Everyone was friendly and attentive, but a special shout-out goes to Nellie, who went above and beyond to make our time there truly memorable. She was incredibly helpful, professional, and genuinely kind — a real credit to your team. It's staff like her that turn a good visit into a great one. Keep up the amazing work! We’ll definitely be returning.

   Update review. 4 to 5 stars. When back a few times this year had lunch & recently 9 of us had dinner on a Monday night all enjoyed it. It's waiting time has improved. Food was always good there . The food are well presented & delicious. Our favourites were The chicken wings. Nachos Fish & chips Steaks Mix grills And all the desserts were yummy.

   Lovely local pub with fantastic friendly service. Recommend the Sunday lunch and the desserts! Has a very nice outside area round the back and free parking although you must register reg for the latter.

   Very lovely pub. We came early on Friday night and it has lovely interior decor and big outdoor space in back, with tables decently spread out. The prices were moderate, and though slightly slow to get the food the flavour was excellent. Will definitely be returning.
