Abysmal Food, Rude Manager – Won’t Be Returning I attended Sir Henry’s Saturday night for a Christmas dinner with a group of 20+ people. It was hands down one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had. The starter (Yorkshire pudding with pulled beef) arrived lukewarm. For the main, four of us sitting together ordered the same pork schnitzel with jus. Every single plate arrived exactly the same — a thick slab of pork, heavily breadcrumbed and completely smothered in thick gravy. This was not jus. The plates were swimming in it — covering the entirety of the schnitzel, potatoes and spring onions. We tried to make the best of the meal and eat what we could; some managed better than others, but it was genuinely unpleasant. As you can clearly see from the photos, the plates were drowned in gravy. The spring onions were thick, chewy and clearly not fresh — you could barely cut through them. The potatoes were the only remotely acceptable part of the dish. Dessert was a Christmas pudding that tasted watered down and jelly-like rather than a proper pudding. It was cold, and the custard tasted unpleasant, and perfumed. When we complained, the manager became argumentative and dismissive. My son had already told the waitress he did not want his schnitzel covered in gravy and asked for a replacement. Instead of handling this professionally, the bleach blonde manager came over and aggressively questioned him about “what his problem was.” She repeatedly argued that the gravy was jus, despite four identical plates clearly being smothered in thick gravy. When we pointed out that jus and gravy are not the same thing, she continued to argue and insisted we would have to pay for it because “that’s what we ordered.” Her behaviour was vile, confrontational and completely unacceptable. This is not how a manager of a large establishment should speak to paying customers. The only positive of the evening was the waitresses. They were absolutely amazing — polite, helpful and genuinely apologetic. Ironically, these young women showed far more professionalism and customer service than the middle-aged manager representing the restaurant. They put her to shame. I refused to pay for the dish and will never return. The food was rank and the management service appalling. The only reason the evening wasn’t a total write-off was the company of our friends. Several of them were also unhappy with their meals, but I’ll leave them to write their own reviews. Sir Henry’s seriously needs to rethink who they have as the face of their restaurant.

Our first visit to this beautiful restaurant but definitely wont be our last. Lovely, really friendly staff, so welcoming & delicious food, a menu for all tastes, including a vegan menu. In a beautiful atmospheric cosy barn effect surroundings. A lovely atmosphere, decor & good music playing too. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Sir Henry’s is our favourite family restaurant and a go to for a good home cooked meal. The lamb is out of this world and I love the specials menu that changes constantly. The servers always welcome us warmly with a smile and the speed is second to none with meals coming out piping hot! Thank you for being such an amazing restaurant.

Just happened to be in the area and Sir Henry's was the closest to us. Inside the pub is really cool, staff couldn't have been nicer and more attentive, service was excellent! Thought the food would have been better but it was just typical pub food, burger patty most likely came frozen in a box. The other sandwich wasn't as tasty as other places have it. On another note: The pond was low and unappealing and low water that doesn't move during hot days brings insects. The water out back around the parking area was somewhat the same which brought up concerns for the waterfowl that was resting in the low/muddy section.

I had the salmon linguine and the creme brulee and my partner had the creamy mushroom pasta. All of it was so good. The sauce to my seafood pasta was so good I didn't want it to end. Recommend!

Very busy but only waited a short while to be shown to our table for 9 seen straight away drinks order taken and served. Gave us time to catch up then order taken for starters and main. Was not in a rush so starters served within a suitable time. Staff in attendance checking if we required anything. Wasnt rushed and mains served about right after time for a drink and chat and playing silly Xmas Games family tradition. Food was good few had desserts rest of us various coffees. Price very reasonable Mum and Dads treat thanks to all at Sir Henry's and Merry Christmas.

Very impressed, we arrived without a reservation but they still managed to accommodate us. The place is expensive but is well worth the prices charged for the quality you get. Quality meals with specials that change daily. The place was busy but we were seated and served quickly. Set in an old fashioned building with lovely grounds and plenty of well laid out outside seating for the summer. Ample free parking.

Lovely staff are always very accommodating. The food is very tasty and well seasoned. The food from starters to main course was good not too long of a wait in-between. Good free parking and very kid friendly. I will go back in summer to try their beer garden.

I went for lunch at 2pm on a Friday. We hadn't booked a table so waited about 15 mins. There is a bar area with a few tables for waiting in. I found the staff to be very lovely and my salad was delicious. There was a decent amount of crayfish and prawns, compared to other selfish salads I've had. I wasn't too impressed by the chips. They seemed quite bland and small, so it was possibly the last scoop of a packet. We were given a decent amount of time to decide what we wanted. By 4, the place was quiet. I will definitely be going back, and look forward to warmer weather so that I can enjoy the outside seating area. In terms of parking, there is limited space, and I saw at least two cars parking over two spaces. However, there is an overflow car park.
